Lila shouted angrily, "Every guest here today is a bigshot. They're people with real influence. And you? You're just the Berry family's rejected ex-son-in-law. What makes you think you deserve to be here?"
Trevor quickly chimed in, "She's right. This isn't a place for the likes of you. Get out!"
Sebastian looked up and shot Trevor a piercing glare. "I suggest you think before you speak. I respected you when you were my father-in-law, but now I have nothing to do with the Berrys. If you keep talking like that, I won't hesitate to teach you a thing or two about respect."
"What? Are you going to hit me?" Trevor's shock quickly turned to anger.
On any other day, he wouldn't have dared to provoke Sebastian. But today was the Supreme Merchants Guild's signing ceremony.
Trevor was convinced Sebastian wouldn't risk causing a scene. If he did, it would be a slap in the face to the merchant guild, and that would be like signing his own death warrant.
"Go ahead and try," Sebastian replied coldly.
"You…" Trevor pointed at him, and his body trembled with rage.
Lila slapped Sebastian's hand away. "You've crossed the line, Sebastian! Even though we're divorced, my dad is still your elder. Is this how you talk to him?"
"Elders should know how to behave," he shot back.
"Don't dodge the question! I'll ask you again—how did you get in here?" she demanded sharply.
Sebastian replied nonchalantly, "I'll repeat it—I walked in."
Lila's anger flared, and her eyes widened with fury. "What I mean is, how did the security let you in?"
"Exactly! You need an invitation to be here, and you're just our family's rejected ex-son-in-law. There's no way you had an invitation card. You must've snuck in!" Trevor shouted.
Trevor taunted, "Hey, brat! Don't be greedy. Two million spiritual stones is a huge amount that you probably can't even imagine. You've never seen that much money before, right?"
The crowd joined in to mock Sebastian.
"So, this is the Berry family's incompetent ex-son-in-law? The freeloader who thinks he can come here and pester Ms. Berry? What a disgrace to men everywhere."
"Yeah, it's true! Ms. Berry is generous in offering him two million spiritual stones. I wouldn't give him a single stone if it were me."
"This guy is just shameless."
Lila demanded sharply, "Sebastian, what the hell do you want exactly?"
