Lila frowned, and a hint of contempt crossed her face.
Before she could respond, Quinn scoffed and said, "You've really got some nerve, country bum. Ms. Berry is way too classy for you to even think about."
Lila added, "If you're not happy with the offer, I can offer you six million spiritual stones."
"I told you, it's not about the money. I'm only interested in you," Sebastian replied.
"How shameless!" Lila's anger flared as she grabbed a glass of wine and splashed it on his face.
"Loser! How dare you dream of something so far out of reach!" Quinn fumed.
Sebastian wiped his face and shook his head with a wry smile. He knew he had been too blunt. Anyone would think he was just a creep.
Lila glared at him and snapped, "Just tell me! How much do you want?"
"I've already told you. It's not about the money. If you're not interested, then let's forget about this marriage." With that, Sebastian stood up to leave. If he couldn't persuade her, then he would just find someone else.
She shot to her feet and shouted, "Stop!"
"Is there anything else?" He turned around.
Lila glared at Sebastian and ground her teeth. "Sit down. Let's talk this through."
He returned to his seat. "The first and third terms of the agreement are fine, but the second is non-negotiable. Once we're married, you'll have to fulfill your duties as my wife."
Sebastian frowned, and he could already figure out Lila's game. She was just buying time while waiting for her family to weather the storm before casting him aside.
Still, he nodded. After all, finding a woman with a spiritual constitution was no easy feat.
Besides, he wasn't too concerned about Lila going back on her word. If she dared to cross him, the consequences would be far worse than she could imagine.
Seeing Sebastian agree, Lila's lips curled into a smile of triumph.
"Ms. Berry, why'd you agree to that? Are you really going to settle for that loser?" Quinn asked, puzzled, once they left the restaurant.
"Of course not." Lila sneered. "I'm just stalling. Once we secure the 300-million-spiritual-stones contract from Bejeweled Tower, our family will be back on its feet. Then, I'll cast him aside."
