Chapter 389: Death (II)

Something in the back of his head kept telling him that this was stupid. That they shouldn’t be here and that they still had the time to turn the fuck around and leave before things went out of control. But he knew that he was way too deep in this mess for him to turn around and leave. He was the one who stepped up in front of Tracy, and now Finn knew that if he turned the fuck around, then he would be losing all the aura points that he might have farmed in front of Tracy. And honestly, he didn’t think that there were a lot.

"Oh, I don’t like this," said Veronica as they continued their way toward the cottage. Her pace was slow and she seemed to be falling at the back of the group as if–

"If you dare to run away, I will skin you alive," snapped Tracy as she looked over her shoulder. She seemed to know what the little demigod was thinking, and she didn’t like it.

The little girl jumped in the air and then picked up her pace. Her cheeks reddened as she muttered about not doing what Tracy thought she was doing. However, the shifty look in her eyes told otherwise.

At least this little failed runaway incident was enough to make Finn snap out of his lustful train of thoughts. He turned to look at Tracy, who didn’t look at him. Her cotton candy hair was fluttering in the soft breeze, and her pale skin looked even paler under the sunlight. She looked exhausted after driving all night, and yet there was this subtle, languid charm in her expression that made her look even more enchanting.

She looked so fierce, so pretty—so his.

So his? Woah there, buddy. What the hell was that? Since when did she become his? And where the hell did he even get that thought from? Tracy was not his. She would never be his. So why the hell did he come up with such a stupid thought? And where in the ever-loving fuck did it even pop from? Finn had no idea, and given the circumstances, he knew that it was not the time for him to even start on it.

The only good thing about this entire situation was the glimmer of approval in Tracy’s eyes when she looked at him furtively. She must be thinking that he was not looking at her, but his gaze had never left her, even when he was walking in front of her. Or maybe he was just imagining things. But no matter what, it did send a dart straight to his length. Which had to be fucked up in many ways, as they were marching towards what looked like a mass grave. The stench of death should be anything but a turn-on here.

But then again, it wasn’t the stench. It was her.

As they stepped closer to the cottage, the stench of death and decay intensified, and this was welcomed as he finally got rid of the thoughts that were going astray. His libido finally took the back seat, letting his rationality take the front. He noticed how everyone suddenly became even more alert, their shoulders tightened, and their steps became cautious. More deliberate as their breathing turned shallow.
