Chapter 278: To A Long Drive

Killian dragged the word ’traitor’ as long as he could. He seemed utterly pissed that Finn had not done what he should have done as the beta of the pack, but Inez knew that there was no point in trying. Tracy didn’t seem like someone who would go down with just a tackle. If she were, then she would have thought twice before waltzing inside her lodge, so confidently at that.

Finn cleared his throat. He glanced at Tracy and Inez before turning to look at Killian. He said to him, "You should try to calm down a little and think things through. There is no point in losing your temper; at least try to listen to what is going on. Maybe the witch here is really just trying to help, and you are not helping by losing your temper."

Inez listened to his words and hesitated. She had to admit that the man was right; it would have been so much better if Killian had just listened to what Tracy had to say. But the man didn’t hear a thing. The second he saw her, he started attacking her with all kinds of accusations and blame, which didn’t sound very nice to listen to. It would have been better if he had just calmed down and listened to what Tracy had to say.

"She cannot just barge in when Inez is all alone—" Killian began, his dominant alpha vibes oozing through his very skin. He looked thoroughly upset that Tracy had come looking for Inez when she shouldn’t have.

"I didn’t barge in; I was invited." Tracy flicked her hair behind her. She turned to look at Inez and stated, "If you don’t believe me, then you can ask Inez. I met with her outside, and she brought me into the lodge. I know better than to just barge into someone’s private space. Do you take me as a barbarian alpha who does things on impulse rather than giving others the respect and space?"

She scoffed. "Stop disrespecting me like that." She sounded quite affronted.

Finn’s eyes twitched as he glanced at her; he then turned his head and looked at Killian, who seemed even more pissed than before, grinning. He patted Killian on the shoulders with casual familiarity and said, "Come on, alpha. Let’s take this down a notch; there is no need for you to lose your shit. Inez is fine, and that is all that matters, right? Why make a fuss now when everything is alright?"

"I am not making a fuss," hissed Killian. He stepped away from Finn, as he could see that his beta was no longer singing the same tune of loyalty as he usually did. The fucker should be backing him up, but he was standing up for the witch. He didn’t know why, but he would get him back for that later.

"Yes, you are," snapped Tracy.

Yes, he was, thought Inez. She hadn’t spoken it out loud just because the man had been worried sick about her, and that was the only reason why she had stayed quiet till now. If not, she would have definitely spoken up by now.

"I don’t think—"

"You know what, I am not doing this anymore," Tracy snapped. Her eyes flickered as she snapped her fingers. "I think you need to take a nap or something of the sort. Try to relax a little, and when you wake up; make sure you bring us breakfast or something because I am in a shitty mood unless I eat something nice in the morning, you hear me?"

"You, little—"

Inez didn’t get to hear what Killian wanted to say because he disappeared the next second.

She recalled their conversation quite well, and there was no such thing as ’hey, I would like to eat carbonara tomorrow morning.’

’Yeah, I know that it sounds crazy, but a girl has to eat.’

"I will get it for you," Finn promised. He then turned to look at the spot where Killian was standing and questioned, "But can you let me know where you have sent him? I mean, I need to tell the pack members where he has gone or else things would not be pretty for me."

"To bed." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

"Whose bed?"

Tracy scowled. "Get your mind out of the gutter; his own damn bed. Where else do you think I would have sent him?"

"Ah, got it," Finn said with a mock salute. "I should have totally thought that through."

As he left the lodge, Tracy scoffed. "I really hate when shifters act all smart with me." She then turned to look at Inez and said, "Now, are we ready?"
