I flickered my eyes open, but all I see is darkness. Though, I can hear a lot of sound in the distance. My eyes glow, and now I can see my surroundings. I sat up on an uncomfortable, nasty mattress. I look around and notice I am in a cold, dark cell.
An image flashed in my head; the pain, the betrayal, broken trust and broken heart. I let out a deep breath and the smell of frowsty and old metal filled my nostrils. The smell makes me gag a little.
I still have the slightest pain in my head, but it went away as I closed my eyes. I put my hand in my chest and I felt nothing, it's like my heart became numb. Thinking about what happened before I passed out frustrates me. No tears let out in my eyes, it's like I have no emotion. I keep thinking about the betrayal, but it still doesn't make me cry. I let out an exhausted sigh. I couldn’t fathom why Azrael did what he did, but I know there’s a reason behind it all. And I’m going to find it out. But whatever reason he had, it will not change the fact that he betrayed me. I don't think I can forgive him. He doesn't deserve me---us… anymore.
'We have to get out of here, Alex…' Willow uttered.
'They're coming now.' Damona said while sighing.
I know.
'We're sorry for not noticing their plan.' Val said, with guilt.
It's okay. We know it will happen. Don’t worry, I’ll get out of here because it looks like they used spells to prevent me from teleporting.
'Yeah, it's just so sad. I can’t believe our mate can betray us.' Xandra said in a sad tone.
I became quiet. In the first place, I know something is going on the way Azrael and Matthew looked at each other. My trust in Azrael made me blind. Now, I don't think I will trust him again. He broke my trust that I have only given him. His betrayal means abandoning me again as his mate. This mate thing is useless. I regretted every second that I have spent with him. Is that the reason I am reluctant to mate with him? To mark me? He's a jerk. A stupid angel. But we need him in the war.
So, we will go back to Moonlight Kingdom now? What will I say to everyone if Azrael is not with me anymore?
'Nah, just tell them the truth.'
Okay, Damona.
'But honestly, I'm also worried for Azrael. We know something is going on in his pack.' Xandra mumbled.
'Can't we help him?' Val said, wanted to help Azrael one more time. But I don't think I will.
'No, he doesn't deserve us anymore.' Willow said, in a cold tone.
'Don't say that, Willow. He's still our mate.' Val contradicts and frowned.
'Our mate that betrayed us?' Damona said, in a sarcastic way.
We are all hurt and I understand everyone's feelings.
Guys, enough. I will decide, and you have no say in this time.
They became quiet and I let out a frustrated sigh. I brushed my fingers in my hair and got up from the terrible nasty bed.
I made my way to the metal cell bars and the moment my hands were in contact with the cold fusty metal, my hands burned. Quickly, I jumped away from the metal cell bar that I didn't know it’s made of silver. My hands quickly healed and I sigh while staring at the metal cell bar. My eyes scan the entire room and there's no window. I let out a loud sigh.
I heard the door open and a few footsteps from a distance. I hid my aura; dimmed my eyes and made myself invisible. Let's see who will come to see me. I waited until the owner of the footsteps came in view. As expected, it was the traitors. Azrael, Lucian... and Liza??
What the h*ll? I clenched my fist and narrowed my eyes while looking at the traitors. I couldn’t believe it. I know some demons captured Liza, and I think they planned it on purpose. Papa had said before that Lucian and his ally killed the entire pack who wasn’t on their side. Lucian also killed Alpha Rick because of the book entitled ‘The Gifted Hybrid’. I wonder if Liza knew that Lucian killed her father? Tsk. I stared at the three traitors and read their minds. I grinned at the information.
Their eyes scanned the room and gasped when they couldn't find me. They lit the room and opened the clammy metal bar door.
"Where is she??!" Azrael blurted out in shock as he scanned the room. He paced back and forth.
"How did she escape? I'm sure she can't use her teleportation. I cast a spell to prevent her from teleporting!" Lucian said in anger and cursed under his breath.
I smirked, and an idea popped up in my head. I couldn't help but grin.
They scanned the entire room again, but I just remained standing on the corner while staring at Azrael. I read his mind and I don't know if I will believe his thoughts. He was cursing inside his head and worried about my well being. Well, I don't care anymore. It's clear that he and Liza got back together. I felt a pang of pain in my chest, but I ignored it. I’m done with Azrael. I rolled my eyes when Liza clung to Azrael like a leech while saying something in his ears. I glared at Liza. I remember all the cruel things she did to me in the past.
I know revenge is bad, but I'm itching to kick their ass!
I slipped myself in the door, careful not to make any noise. I grinned because it's the perfect time to set up my little sweet revenge.
They’re still distracted by my disappearance, so I closed the door even if it burned my hand. I cast a spell for them not to hear me slowly close the door. Perks of being a werewolf, we can hear even the muffled sounds. I lock the frosty and reek of an old metal bar door without them knowing. I purposely bang the door to get their attention. Their eyes widened when they saw the door already locked.
They all curse loudly and bangs the metal cell bar, but it burns them. I wanted to laugh, but I stopped myself. I don't want them to know that I am still here. Serves them right. That's a taste of their own medicine.
'You're clever, Alex!' Val said while chuckling. Everyone laughed inside my head. I left them locked in the cell while grinning. Now I have to get out of here. But first things first, I will talk to Stephen.
I walked into the dark hallway and opened the thick nasty metal door. Another wide dimmed hallway greeted me, I noticed that I am in a prison cell in the basement inside the Shepherds pack house. I still couldn’t believe Azrael put me in there. He’s cruel as I thought.
I saw Lucy, who was walking in the hallway. I read her mind and to my surprise, she's worried about me. She wanted to get me out of the prison cell. I saw her keep glancing at the basement door. She wanted to go in, but she stopped and went back. She fears being caught.
At least, I know she's not like them. She cares for me. I let out a deep breath, and I removed my invisibility. I teleported myself into the Vermount Castle, where Stephen is.
I teleported in front of the tall golden white gate of the castle.
'Let me in front, Alex.'
Are you sure, Damona?
'Yes,'
Okay.
I close my eyes and let the force pull me up.
Alexandria's POV
Stephen and I are now in his office. He's been quiet the whole time and lost in his own thoughts. I scanned him. I still couldn't believe what he did. He knew it would affect Layla. What is he thinking?
I let out a deep breath and broke the silence. "Why did you do it? Are you that desperate for sex?" I asked, blankly.
He looked at me, full of shame. He let out a sigh, "I'm drunk and didn't know what I did,"
"You're impossible, Stephen. B*llsh*t!" I said while clenching my fist into a ball. That's absurd!
"W-Where's Layla?" he asked, but I glared at him.
"Sorry, but I couldn't tell you. After what you've done? I don't think you deserve Layla." I said, in a cold tone.
I stared at him intently, "I know you're part of the association that wants to kill me."
He looked at me in shock and couldn't look at me in the eyes, "What did I do wrong, huh?" He didn't answer me and just stayed quiet.
I laughed in a sarcastic way and said, "Did you join the alliance because of your parents’ death?"
His jaw clenched and said, "Yes! Because Uncle Alexander killed them!!"
I glared at him. What a lie. He believes that? Pathetic King. "Who told you those lies?" I spat angrily. "My father didn't kill them! It was the demons who killed them! Wake up!"
"What??" he clenched his fist into a ball and his eyes darkened.
I sighed and stared back at him, "My father didn't kill them. How can he kill his own blood? His only sibling? Stephen, stop being blind. That association is only trying to fool you and wants you to kill your own blood."
"I don't know if you are telling me the truth, Alex."
I sighed. Changing his mind is impossible, especially if he believes a lie that the demons planted on his brain. Standing up, I said, "I will leave now. But, think carefully before making your actions and decisions. You are a King and don't let your anger overpower you for unworthy things. We are talking about thousands of innocent lives that were going to waste in this battle. For what? Just to kill me and my parents? And the Kingdom they built for years? This war was useless to me. A war that will wipe out all the races. Please, you still have time to back out from this war and save the warrior's life, Stephen. They have nothing to do with this war. It was between the power hunger demons and me. I will let none of them or you ruin our Kingdom." he's just silent and stared into nothingness.
Stephen’s mind clouded with anger and I know he's having a debate inside his head. I read his mind, and I am surprised by what I have found out. I took a deep breath.
"You will not only disappoint us, but also Layla. She despised people who were injustice and impulsive." I said that made him look at me.
"We are a family, Stephen. Do not let them poison your mind." I continued before disappearing in front of him. I'll give him time to think. If he doesn't listen to me, I guess we will see each other on the battlefield.
I have to go back because I'm so worried for Layla. I feel sorry for her. I hope she's fine. And I have to tell my parents about what I have found out today and why I returned back late.
It's so sad that Azrael and I will be enemies in the upcoming war. But only one of us will stay alive.
