Chapter 1513
Before Kisa could finish her sentence, the creaky wooden door was suddenly pushed open, and Gilbert stood coldly at the entrance. "If you've got something to say, just say it. No need to stir up trouble here." His eyes filled with disgust.
Kisa's heart sank. She averted his gaze and said, "I just want you guys to watch out for Sara. She's very likely working with David. She was responsible for the collapse in the basement of the Mullen residence."
Gilbert leaned against the doorway and lit a cigarette. "She's more honest than you are," he said, his voice tinged with fatigue.
Kisa felt a sudden pang. "So you don't believe me?" she asked.
Kelvin suddenly let out a cold laugh. "You just said it yourself. Sara confessed to us that she was helping David, including the incident at the Mullen residence. She overheard David plotting to hurt Mrs. Kooper Sr. and risked her own life to save her. If it wasn't for her, Mrs. Kooper Sr. would probably be in David's hands right now."
"No..." Kisa shook her head urgently. "It must've been a trap she set up herself. She-"
"Enough!" Kelvin cut her off impatiently. "One person risked everything to save Gilbert and Mrs. Kooper Sr., while the other did everything they could to harm Gilbert. Who should we believe? Sara suffered serious injuries
while trying to save Mrs. Kooper Sr., and she works hard every day to take care of her. So you'd better watch what you say about her."
"I-"
"And besides, David has been searching for Mrs. Kooper Sr. If Sara really is working with him, would Mrs. Kooper Sr. still be here safe and sound?"
Kisa eyed her warily, refusing to take it. Suddenly, Sara poured the piping hot soup all over her own hand, the bowl shattering on the floor. The room filled with the sound of her agonizing screams. Before Kisa knew what happened, she was pushed aside with great force.
Gilbert grabbed Sara's burned hand and swiftly placed it under running cold water. Sara's eyes glistened with tears as she pleaded, "Gilbert, don't blame Kisa. It was my fault. She is just a guest. I shouldn't have asked her to help me carry the soup out. I guess she must have thought I was bossing her around, so she got mad and spilled the soup bowl. Please don't blame her."
Kisa could not help but chuckle at the impressive performance. 'This woman is a real pro at acting, even better than Sharon. And the best part?
This act never fails to fool the man.'
Gilbert remained silent, washing Sara's burned hand for what seemed like ages before turning to face Kisa. 1
