Reborn From Ashes novel Chapter 68

"What is he doing here? Why is he here?" Francis was the first to snap, and his voice filled with anger as he pointed accusingly at Hayden.

His face was twisted with fury. "Where's my son, Morgan? Didn't you say you were calling him?"

Just then, Charlotte jumped in with an urgent tone. "Where is he?"

"Who?" The teachers all exchanged confused glances.

"Morgan—Morgan Sterling, my son!" Charlotte repeated anxiously.

The homeroom teacher looked puzzled as he scanned the room. "We don't have a Morgan Sterling enrolled here, Mrs. Sterling. Are you sure you're not mistaken?"

The other teachers shared the same look of shock, and it finally dawned on them that there had been a big mix-up.

"That's impossible! You called and told me my son scored 100 percent in math!" Charlotte's voice grew louder, her face tight with frustration. "What do you mean he's not here now? What kind of mistake is this?

"I demand an explanation today. I won't let this slide without an explanation!" she fumed, her tone rising with intensity.

Just then, a cold laugh echoed through the room.

Everyone turned toward the direction of the sound and saw Hayden, who stepped forward with a detached and indifferent expression.

"Ms. Clark, what's the matter?" he asked with a flat tone.

"Well, I called your family here to discuss your options for university. But it seems there's been some confusion," the teacher explained with an apologetic look.

"Family? Where's my family, then? Why aren't they here?" Hayden asked as he glanced around the room, appearing to be genuinely confused. His eyes didn't even settle on the Sterling family members.

At that moment, the teachers were utterly bewildered and exchanged looks of disbelief.

The mocking look in Hayden's eyes only fueled Francis' rage further. How could Hayden dare to act this way?

At that moment, Charlotte's voice cracked as she pleaded, "How could you say that? I'm your mother! How could you say that you don't know us?"

She wore a face of shock and desperation, and her heart broke when she heard her son's words.

"How could you not know who's attending Riverside High if you're my mother? Have you ever set foot here? How can someone like you truly claim to be my mother?" he added, his words piercing.

Hayden's response left Charlotte speechless, her mind reeling. She stood there, stunned, unable to calm the storm of emotions surging through her.

Slowly, she lowered her head in shame as her face paled out.

Because, in truth, she had no idea Hayden was even attending Riverside High.
