Reborn From Ashes novel Chapter 57

Although Hayden had already left the Sterling family, he was still tied to them by blood. If something happened to him, the chauffeur knew he'd be held responsible.

"Stop with the excuses! Are you going to disobey me now? One word from me, and you'll be out of a job. You won't even be able to stay in the capital! Just do as I say. Got it?" Morgan scolded coldly.

"Yes, sir." The chauffeur, trembling with fear, sighed helplessly before reluctantly pressing down on the gas pedal.

He had no choice. Too many people had met tragic ends under Morgan's control. He couldn't risk the same fate.

"Faster, faster! I said speed up!" Morgan yelled, and his face twisted with rage.

The chauffeur was terrified by what he heard and stepped harder on the accelerator.

In his line of sight, Hayden and Jenny were directly on the car's path, heading for a devastating collision. Their future seemed grim.

At that moment, Hayden and Jenny were heading toward the school gate when they suddenly noticed a car speeding toward them from a distance.

"Hayden!" Jenny exclaimed in shock, calling out to him.

When Hayden saw the license plate, his expression darkened. It was a car from the Sterling family! It looked like Morgan's vehicle, the one used to take him to school.

Was this an attempt on his life? No way! If he got hit, Morgan would surely be implicated.

Despite being infuriating and slick, Morgan wasn't entirely foolish. There had to be a motive behind this, and Hayden suspected it was simply a scare tactic.

A smirk appeared on Hayden's face, filled with disdain and indifference.

"Steer a bit to the side and drive right through that puddle!" Morgan commanded.

"Yes, sir!" The chauffeur sighed in relief and quickly turned the steering wheel. As long as they didn't hit anyone, they would be fine.

The car sped past Hayden and Jenny, splashing into the puddle. Water sprayed up like a torrential downpour, drenching Hayden and Jenny in seconds.

Nearby students were also caught in the deluge, their uniforms soaked and muddy, which elicited a chorus of complaints.

The car stopped, and the door swung open. Morgan stepped out with a triumphant smirk, reveling in Hayden's misery.

"Hayden, I'm so sorry! I didn't realize there was a puddle here. You're not mad at me, are you? Here, take this one thousand dollars; it's my allowance for today. Use it to get some dry clothes. I just care so much about you. Wouldn't want you catching a cold!"
