Wade and Dean approached, a glimmer of anticipation in their eyes.
They had come all the way to Stonybrook to taste the authentic Twilight Cake.
Yesterday had been an unfortunate miss, but now, fate seemed to give them another chance.
It almost felt like divine intervention, as if everything had been orchestrated just for them.
But just as they stepped forward, two more figures emerged behind them, instantly drawing attention—Julia and Anna.
Both women looked uneasy, their expressions stiff with discomfort.
Wade and Dean invited them out today. Out of courtesy, they had agreed to come along.
There were only so many places young men and women could go together, so they had settled on spending the afternoon at the mall. But the moment they arrived, they ran straight into this scene.
"Well, well, what a fine-looking group! Please enjoy! This is an officially endorsed Twilight Cake personally authorized by Christina."
Nathan's excitement was evident as he fixed his gaze on the four of them.
The staff quickly presented four pieces of pastry.
The group accepted them, examining the treats closely.
"Haven't we seen this before?" Wade narrowed his eyes. "Are you sure this yellowish tint isn't just Carrot cake?"
"I swear it's not. I guarantee it's made entirely with night-blooming cereus." Nathan declared with absolute confidence.
"Fine. Let's taste it."
Wade exhaled and took a bite.
One by one, the others followed suit. As the flavors unfolded on their tongues, subtle shifts appeared in their expressions.
His voice was light, but his words carried weight. He picked up another piece, turning it over as if searching for answers.
A hush fell over the crowd as countless eyes locked onto Nathan.
But now that someone had pointed it out, they did want answers.
All at once, expectant gazes bore down on Nathan.
"This…" Nathan's smile stiffened. His lips twitched awkwardly.
His job was just to collect feedback and survey results. No one had said anything about explaining the truth.
