"Why? Are you guys really going to choose him over me?" Lily pressed.
"We're not giving up on you. You just can't go looking for him right now!" Charlotte replied seriously.
"Enough! Get out, all of you!" Lily shouted, losing her temper.
Unable to do anything, Charlotte and the two sisters had no choice but to leave. They sighed helplessly, their hearts heavy with disappointment.
None of them had expected Lily's resentment toward Hayden to run so deep.
"Tomorrow, we'll head over to see Hayden as soon as possible and inform him of the situation. He must not hand over that gem!" Charlotte reminded them.
"Got it!" Julia and Anna nodded in agreement.
…
Hayden was busy that evening, diligently doing his research on his computer. He was looking for a reputable and powerful auction house. After careful consideration, he finally settled on Prima Auction House.
It was the largest auction house in Stonybrook. Furthermore, it had a long-standing history of reliability and no past errors.
Following that, he started drafting another proposal. It was catered to Christina, focusing on how to raise her popularity through streaming videos.
Recalling her graceful figure and looks, he determined that traditional clothing would suit her best. It would make her look like a beauty stepping out of an ancient painting.
In his previous life, there was a live streamer who rose to fame by wearing traditional clothing and promoting cultural heritage in picturesque, vintage-style settings. The content gained significant attention globally.
It was a shame that the live streamer disappeared after a falling out with the shareholders.
"My goodness. That random piece of gem turned out to be worth 300 million? You just placed it so haphazardly that I almost threw it out, thinking it was trash!" Serena lamented, feigning surprise as well.
"You're making a mountain out of a molehill. That's not even all of it. We even ran into Mr. Schnapps, the president of Stonybrook's Chamber of Commerce!" Jenny held her head up high, smiling smugly.
"Oh? What did the esteemed Mr. Schnapps want from you?" James asked curiously.
James and Serena both knew the truth, but they had to feign ignorance to keep up the facade.
With that, Hayden went ahead and retold what happened at the auction house. However, he kept it brief, not planning to let his parents worry.
"I see. This gem is far too valuable. I probably won't be sleeping tonight. What if someone plans to steal it at night after finding out there's something valuable here?
"How about this? Your mother and I will take turns keeping watch tonight. Tomorrow, you need to sell it as soon as possible!" James' tone was solemn, and he appeared deeply concerned.
