Reborn From Ashes novel Chapter 195

The smell hit them hard, and their expressions instantly changed. Without hesitation, they rushed inside.

The house was filled with smoke, undoubtedly.

Everyone started coughing as they scrambled to find the source of the fire. It didn't take long to figure out that it was coming from the kitchen.

They hurried over and found Jenny bustling around, clearly frazzled.

Hayden quickly turned on the range hood, and the smoke began to clear. He opened the windows to let fresh air in, allowing the haze to dissipate faster.

"Jenny, are you okay?" Hayden asked, concern evident in his voice.

"I… I'm fine…" Jenny stammered, her wide eyes full of nervousness.

"What were you thinking, Jenny? Are you trying to burn the house down?" Serena scolded, still shaken.

"It's fine. There's no harm done," James said, stepping in before things escalated. "But what were you doing in here? What's with all the commotion?"

Jenny fidgeted and looked down, her voice small. "I just wanted to cook something for you all. Hayden's cooking is always so good, and I thought I could make something too… but I don't know what happened. The smoke got thicker and thicker, and the food turned completely black."

Her voice trailed off, her lips pressed together as she looked on the verge of tears.

"You didn't even turn on the range hood?" Hayden chuckled, ruffling her hair. "And with the heat that high, of course, it burned. You're lucky you didn't set the whole house on fire."

Jenny's head drooped even lower, and her face, now streaked with soot, was flushed with embarrassment. Hayden gently wiped her face with a clean cloth, his smile soft.

Jenny pouted, her cheeks red with embarrassment as she flopped onto the couch in a huff.

With everyone pitching in, they cleaned up the kitchen and whipped up a delicious spread. The family gathered around the table, soaking in the warm, happy atmosphere.

"Once college starts, you'll be heading to the capital. Make sure you work hard out there," James said, his tone serious but encouraging. "It's a vibrant city, full of opportunities, but don't let yourself get distracted. Stay focused, and you'll do amazing things."

"I understand." Hayden nodded firmly.

"And don't forget to find yourself a partner!" Serena chimed in, her face lighting up with enthusiasm. "Brighton's full of brilliant students. You might find someone perfect for you!"

"Ordinary girls don't deserve my brother!" Jenny pouted again, crossing her arms.
