However, Lily and Charlotte didn't pay attention to Morgan. Their anger was directed entirely at Hayden.
"What exactly is wrong with you? Are you trying to harm Morgan? If anything happens to him, I won't let you off!" Lily shouted. Her usually delicate face twisted in anger. "You must be jealous of him, so you're framing him!"
Charlotte was equally furious. Her chest heaved, and her heart burned with rage, her eyes turning red.
"I thought you had changed, but you're still so evil! How dare you harm your own brother! If something happens to him, how will you ever make up for it? He's supposed to go to Brighton University; he's the future of the country. Can you bear the responsibility for that?"
She scolded him relentlessly, forgetting for a moment that Hayden was also her son.
The bond she shared with Morgan over the years was deeper. How could a mere three years of affection for Hayden compare?
The hostility in the room was suffocating, all directed at Hayden.
However, he remained calm and unaffected. He had gone through this kind of scene too often to be shaken. He had seen even worse things.
"I really didn't mean it. This is such a high-class hospital, and it's my first time here. How about I go wash another bunch of grapes? I now know where the tap water is."
He walked toward the fruit to grab another bunch of grapes, looking genuinely apologetic. Even Lily and Charlotte started to believe him a little.
"Enough! Just go. Stop embarrassing yourself here!" Lily rolled her eyes, waving her hand impatiently.
"But… I've made a mistake, and I must make up for it. I can't just leave!" Hayden said with a firm tone as he looked seriously at Morgan.
Morgan had wanted to refuse, but the words were stuck in his throat. Since they were saying this, he might as well agree.
The ward was for one person, and the bathroom was inside. What could happen while going to wash up?
So, Hayden helped Morgan get out of bed. His gentle touch made Morgan momentarily let down his guard. In front of Charlotte and Lily, he surely wouldn't do anything out of line.
But the moment Morgan got off the bed, Hayden casually stuck out his foot and hooked it around Morgan's ankle.
Morgan lost his balance and immediately fell to the floor.
