Rebirth: We Split Ways.. novel Chapter 73

Anywhere you go, coincidences happen…

"Dominic, I'm happy you came to see me this time," Kyla softly said.

She was reaching out to hold Dominic's hand. However, he subtly evaded her touch.

"I see some business associates over there," Dominic remarked chilly, striding purposefully toward the gathering.

Kyla felt a pang of disappointment. It had been two months since she arrived in Lynnwood, and Dominic hadn't called her once. She had hoped for a closer bond.

Especially for the sake of their child!

Reluctantly, she cast a sidelong glance at Dominic before turning back around, only to find Penelope standing across from her, accompanied by a middle-aged woman who still exuded undeniable allure.

Her lips curved into a deliberate smile, accentuating the protrusion of her belly, as she positioned herself before Penelope with the poise of a noblewoman.

"Why do I keep running into you?" Kyla remarked.

Penelope glanced at her dismissively, "I was about to say the same."

Kyla gritted his teeth. "I truly don't understand you. You spoke candidly during the divorce, yet now you're going out of your way to meet him, seemingly intent on clinging to Dominic. Your determination is quite something."

Upon hearing this, Aunt Linda turned to Penelope and asked, "Penny, is she the woman who interfered in your marriage?"

"Mind your language," Penelope warned.

Surprised at being called 'older lady,' Aunt Linda tried to contain her laughter, "Penelope, does Auntie Linda look that old?"

As the founder of the luxury cosmetics company M.E., she held the secrets to anti-aging and had a radiant appearance. Usually addressed with respect as "sister" when out and about, she was now being openly ridiculed.

"Auntie Linda, you're beautiful, and she's just spiteful," Penelope replied nonchalantly.

Penelope chuckled dismissively, his tone casual and indifferent, "Dominic is like something discarded at a junkyard to me. I can't fathom what you're so concerned about."

She didn't want Aunt Linda to tarnish his refined and dignified image because of someone like her. After all, what was there to debate when comparing humans to mere dogs?

However, Aunt Linda couldn't let it go. She might not have minded Kyla addressing her as "mother-in-law," but she couldn't tolerate Penelope's insinuations about being fatherless and motherless.

Kyla noticed the anger in the older woman before her, yet she smiled and quipped, "Did I strike a nerve? Are you stepping up to defend her now?"

"She's merely a commoner. Once she rises to power, your less fortunate relatives can bask in her glory and perhaps get a chance to travel abroad. Just snap plenty of photos to flaunt back in your village."

Aunt Linda could no longer contain his emotions and shouted at Kyla, raising his voice significantly, "Apologize this instant!"

Kyla remained defiant, "Dream on! You're all uncultured, and she's no different!"

"Smack!"

Aunt Linda could no longer restrain himself. Swiftly, he lunged forward, grabbing Kyla's collar and delivering a resounding slap across his face.
