"Is that so?" Winnie stiffened as she waited patiently for what Edward would say next.
"Your resume is pretty good and your major is considerably relevant, but you're too young. Our company wants to hire someone with more experience. Even if you are to come in, you'll probably have to start with being an intern.
"As long as I pull strings for you in our HR department, they will surely hire you!" Edward boasted smugly. "As long as I'm there, I can assure you that your application won't fall between the cracks!
"I can also tell you something that ordinary people don't know—Cinnamine Pharmaceuticals recently has had a very good trajectory. We're not only going to acquire Lyceo Cosmeceuticals, but we're also launching a new product soon.
"I've got news from insiders that once this new product is in the market, it'll become the next best-selling item in the season which will cause Cinnamine Pharmaceuticals' shares to increase at least two times! If you come into the company now, you will be entering at just the right time.
"If you wait till we acquire Lyceo Cosmeceuticals, the number of people who will want to work here would be bursting at the seams!"
Then, he picked up a bottle of alcohol, got up, and inched closer to Winnie. He wanted to pull Winnie to sit closer to him.
Winnie scooted backward, so Edward wasn't able to touch her.
"It's still early now. Let's drink more!"
"I really can't drink anymore, Mr. Edward. If I drink more, I'll be drunk." Winnie refused.
"Winnie, you're applying to be the CEO's secretary. How could you not know how to drink? When you're out in business meetings, you'll have to be the one to step in and help Ms. Lovell handle her drinks."
Edward patted Winnie's shoulder once more with his meaty hand.
"We're all family here. Even if you're drunk, we have transportation to send you back. If that doesn't work, we can even get you a room upstairs to rest. What are you so afraid of?
"Drink this bottle of alcohol with me and I'll talk to Ms. Lovell for you tomorrow. You don't even need to go for an interview. You can just come straight to work!"
She didn't expect Edward to have so much say in the company to be able to appoint hires for the position of CEO's secretary. However, since Edward didn't give her a good impression, she kept her guard up and took what Edward said with a pinch of salt.
"What's not good about it?" Edward replied with entitledly.
"Do you know who Ms. Lovell's secretary is right now? It's Kelly Pattinson. I was the one who got her in with the strings I've pulled."
"Really?" Now, not only was Winnie shocked, but Stella and the rest who were seated on the couch were all looking at Edward with admiration in their eyes.
There were only two people in the CEO's office—her assistant and her secretary.
If Edward could arrange for Kelly to get the job of the CEO's secretary, it would be an easy feat for him to just arrange for someone else to be another secretary for the CEO.
