Since it was Harold's birthday, Diana didn't want to make things too ugly, so she didn't argue with Alice.

"What's going on with you, Yolanda?" Harold's face darkened as he asked. "What did you say cannot be consumed?"

"There's something wrong with the soup."

Yolanda looked at everyone at the dining table. So far, no one had consumed any goldenseal chicken soup yet.

"I watched the helper cook this soup before my very eyes. What could be wrong with it?" Diana grumbled.

"Yolanda, it's your father's birthday today. Cut it out."

"The goldenseal in the soup is fake. If you consume this soup, you'll likely be poisoned."

"She's just been released from the juvenile detention center for a few days. I reckon that she doesn't even know what a goldenseal looks like. How shamefully ignorant!"

Alice had deliberately said all that to rile Diana up while reminding everyone present of Yolanda's past in the juvenile detention center.
