His words left Melvin even more confused. "What exactly are you trying to say?"
"A few days ago, I terminated my contract with Vista International at great cost, just to put Wilson in a difficult position. But before they could feel the pressure, Mr. Wilson skillfully resolved the situation. I wondered who in the entire East Coast would dare to work against Reynolds Corporation—even James Chancer wouldn't take on such a job. Yet someone else did it. When I investigated, I discovered it was you, Sanders Corporation." Zachary's eyes were filled with coldness.
Melvin frowned slightly and asked uncertainly, "Zachary, I don't understand what you're talking about. I know about the Wilson factory crisis, but Sanders would never help Wilson. Don't create problems where there aren't any."
Zachary shook his head and placed Steven's findings directly in front of him.
As Melvin read through it, he grew increasingly alarmed. "I knew nothing about this."
The factory wasn't in the East Coast but a city away. He had no idea his factory workers were secretly disobeying orders. But who had given those instructions?
He took the documents and left with only one parting statement, "I'll give you an explanation."
After Melvin left, Zachary was alone.
He laughed dryly. Of course, he knew this wasn't Melvin's doing—it couldn't possibly be.
But even if it wasn't him personally, it was still connected to the Sanders family. He had long felt that certain people in the Sanders family needed to be dealt with. This was the perfect opportunity. If not handled now, who knew what problems they might cause in the future.
As soon as Melvin returned to Sanders Corporation, he thoroughly investigated each factory's production lines to check if any Wilson components were being produced.
After searching all afternoon, he realized just how skilled the person behind this was—he couldn't find anything.
Consider how many eyes needed to be deceived, how many falsifications made, for everything to appear perfectly clean when it reached him.
If Zachary hadn't given him that file at St. Ritz, he wouldn't have noticed. When comparing the two, everything matched except for the part numbers of the shipped components.
He made a phone call and said gravely to the person on the other end, "Shut down the factory production lines immediately. Send people to investigate."
Investigate? What else was there to investigate?
Judy's eyes flickered lifelessly, but she didn't answer.
Melvin spoke for her, "She can't talk anymore."
Sarah was confused. "What do you mean?"
"Her... tongue was cut out."
As if sensing their conversation, Judy slowly opened her mouth. Only a small stump remained at the base of her tongue, the cut smooth and even, suggesting how cruel the act had been.
Sarah's mouth fell open as she forced herself to stay calm. She whispered in disbelief, "How could this happen?"
A living person, with her tongue just cut off like that?
