Her tone was filled with worry.
Scott finally turned to look at her. "I don't know," he replied curtly.
Naomi's jaw dropped.
He did not know?
What was the phone call about?
Naomi did not know how to react to this. Scott did not utter another word outside of that sentence, so clearly it was Dylan who spent most of the time talking, and yet he claimed he did not know what happened to Belle?
Naomi did not believe him at all, but from the look on his face, she could tell he was not lying.
He did not need to lie to her.
She pursed her lips and considered this for a moment, then finally took out her phone to send Belle a message. She saved Belle's number from the last time they met, and if anything, it was better to ask her directly.
Scott stared at her. She did not question him any further despite not getting the answer she wanted and did not appear at all bothered. Instead, she was calm and collected. It was as though she knew she could take matters into her own hands.
She did not need him at all.
Not since their divorce.
Naomi, on the other hand, could hear his phone vibrate, but she took no notice of it. She was waiting for Belle to reply to her, but to her surprise, Belle's call came almost instantaneously.
When she saw Belle's name on the screen, Naomi could not help feeling relieved. The fact that Belle could call her directly meant that she was fine.
She picked up. "Hi, Belle."
"Hi, Naomi!" Belle's boisterous laughter rang out from the other end of the line. Laughter was contagious, and Naomi could not help smiling at this. "Why are you so happy?"
"Hahaha! Let me tell you this, Naomi. Last night-"
With that, Belle proceeded to describe everything that happened the night before to Naomi. Initially, Naomi was smiling, but as Belle went on, her smile turned to a frown instead as worry crept across her face. "Are you alright?"
