Naomi had no idea that Scott went out to help Olivia. Ever since she arrived in Herland, Scott had shown her a side of him she never saw before. Every time she thought he would leave for good, he would eventually return out of the blue, but it happened so many times that Naomi was getting used to it at this point.
After a brief moment of surprise, she opened her mouth to say something, but she could not think of what to tell him.
By this time, Scott already made his way toward her. He took the edge of the curtain from her and, for a brief moment, his fingers brushed against hers. Naomi was so shocked by this sudden contact that she instinctively drew her hand back.
With a screech, Scott drew the curtains open, and all of a sudden Naomi was engulfed by the blinding sunlight that made her close her eyes. She could not get used to the strong sunlight.
Scott drew the curtains open and turned to stare at her. She was illuminated in the sunlight, with her eyes squeezed shut, but as time passed, she gradually got used to the sunlight and slowly opened her eyes.
Her eyelashes fluttered as she slowly opened her eyes, like the wings of a butterfly about the take flight.
Before Scott could even realize what he was doing, he stepped forward and pulled her into his arms.
Naomi stared at him in disbelief. Her gaze traced over his chiseled jawline and his pursed lips. Her heart thumped in her chest, but she did not dare to move even an inch.
He seemed to be in a bad mood.
Scott lowered his head to gaze at her.
Naomi stared up at him in a look of bewilderment, her lips just slightly parted as though she wanted to speak. Finally, she lowered her head to avoid his gaze.
She was soft and gentle, like a tame bunny.
However, time was not on their side. Naomi already did a quick calculation before this; they had exactly a year until the museum's grand opening, and it would not be easy to make all the wood carvings that were necessary within a year, since this was skilled work.
That morning, they were supposed to meet at the riverbank of Le Soleil at 8:30 a.m. Considering the time it took for Scott to get ready and for the two of them to have breakfast, they would make it just in time.
With that, Naomi decided to check the map to deduce how long the journey to Le Soleil needed. It would require about 40 minutes' drive.
Naomi glanced at the bathroom. They should be able to make it.
The fact that Scott returned meant that he wanted to go with her. Otherwise, he could have assigned this task to a nurse to accompany her.
Naomi decided to get her work bag organized while she waited for Scott to get ready, but all of a sudden, something struck her.
