The heavy sound of slamming the door seemed to still be resonating in the dinning room.
The second Emily turned around, Simon had already let go of the person in his arms. His lips also. And the romantic affection in his beautiful eyes disappeared instantly, leaving only deep darkness.
Without feeling the warm touch on her neck, Connie felt a sense of loss. She was still looking at his thin lips, unwilling to look away.
Simon's invitation after the meeting in the afternoon made her so happy. Although on the way to his home he had told her in advance that he only needed her to put on a show for him, it was enough to make her elated.
There were only the two of them in the dinning room. The blush on Connie's face had not faded.
She didn't want it to end like this. She couldn't help holding his big hand again and said in sweet voice, "Dr. Chin, your ex-wife has gone, can we continue..."
Before she could finish talking, Simon shock her hand off and said, "No, you can leave too!"
Connie still wanted to say something, but he had already got up and walked into the bedroom
indifferently.
The sound of door being closed came again and the only thing left in the room was silence.
The sunshine outside faded away as time went by. As night fell, lights were gradually lit up in the distant residential building. The whole community was quiet, and sounds of cars could be heard occasionally.
Simon sat at the foot of the bed. His sight fell on the opened suitcase.
He gave a glance to the night outside, and then bitterly twitched his lips. Maybe he should mail her things back to her.
Judging from her running away in anger, Emily must have been on the long distance bus at this moment. If nothing went wrong, Emily could board the train to the capital of the area the same night, and she could take a flight back to Ice city tomorrow...
This is what he wants, isn't it?
Simon took out the cigarette case from his pocket and picked up a cigarette and lit it.
White smoke came out from his mouth and nose, and the corners of his mouth were curved, which slowly spread out in a bleak and lonely way.
No one knew how heartrending it had been when he had had to let her go, nor how hard it had been for him to drive her away.
One cigarette after another, he seemed to want to numb himself.
The light wasn't on in the room. Simon was sitting in the darkness, with his eyes looking at the ground. When he picked up another cigarette from the cigarette box, put it in his mouth, lit it up, and was about puff hard, someone suddenly reached out and snatched his cigarette away.
"Stop it!"
Emily put the cigarette out in the ashtray and said with a frown, "There is Nicotine in cigarettes. You should avoid these substances now! Your should be aware of those factors that could make the disease worse!"
After learning about what had happened to him from Anthea, she had searched a lot about the disease.
Simon looked at her in surprise.
Originally, he thought she had left. He didn't expect her to come back!
For a moment, Simon's pupils constricted. He looked at her blankly with no reaction. He was in contradiction. He was glad that she stayed but wanted her to leave.
He remained silent for a while, and then his Adam's apple bobbed. "Emily, why are you back?"
In front of the window, two doctors were chatting with each other. One pointed at the blue sky and floating clouds and exclaimed, "The weather has been good these few days, especially today. It should be a perfect day to watch the sunset!"
"Oh, the sunset is only suitable for young couples!" Another laughed and waved his hand. "We are too old to enjoy such leisure. Every day after work, we have to go home, pick up the children from school, and then we have to cook and see that our children finish their homework!"
Hearing the conversation, Simon was unable to refrain himself from turning his head and looking out of the window.
Looking into the distance, he could still see the magnificent snow mountain in the distance.
The weather was indeed not bad. It was a perfect day to enjoy the sunset...
Simon's Adam's apple twitched twice, and he walked to the elevator with his hands in the white cloak's pocket, not saying a word.
It was time to get off work, there were more people in the hospital than usual. Most of the doctors and nurses who can hand work to the next shift had changed their clothes and left. There were also many who came to visit the patients.
Simon also took off his white coat and walked out of the building with the car key in his hand.
When he passed through the glass door, he paused for a while. He saw Emily waiting for him in front of a concrete pillar.
She squatted there with a small stick in her hand drawing circles. It looked like she is waiting for him wholeheartedly, making him a little amused but more beguiled.
She squatted right at the juncture between the sun and the shadow of the buildings. Her hair was in the shadow, beautiful as black pearls, but her face was illuminated by the sun, and even the fine hair on her face could be seen clearly.
When she saw him, she immediately stood up and waved her hand to him with a smile. Her eyes were so bright that they looked like stars falling from the sky.
Simon tried his best to control his affection to her.
