She took her eyes off the Band-Aids on Addy's face to gaze at Simon's broken left hand. She could still think of the scene when he warded off the bottle with his fist at the moment. Several parts of his hand were gashed by the broken glass, and blood was welling from the wounds.
He couldn't perform any operation in the short term, at least not in the next two days.
Emily suddenly remembered that once he was injured and bleeding like this, probably for Addy either...
She swallowed hard and breathed out a mouthful of foul air quietly.
Emily didn't know how to describe her mood at this time. It was like being covered by a thin layer of spider web and she could hardly breathe.
After treating Addy's wounds, Simon got up from the bed and walked straight to the French window.
Watching the night sky with his hands in his pockets for a while, he turned around to ask with a frown, "Addy, what happened tonight?"
Hearing this, Addy sighed feebly. "I have asked him for a divorce. I don't want to be with him, so I naturally can't stay in that house anymore. I live in this hotel these days! But because I was so eager to get away from him at that time, I left in a hurry, and I didn't take many things with me. I thought I would find a time to pack them later!"
"Recently, Sean spends all his daytime at home. Since tonight he went out, I went back to pack up my things, but he suddenly came back! He was clearly drunk and forced me to promise not to divorce him again. Otherwise, he would kill me. I was too scared, so I called you for help..."
Addy closed her eyes in pain, unable to go on. She looked like she was extremely fatigued.
Simon gave her a doleful look as he asked, "Sean doesn't agree to divorce now. What's your plan?"
"Whether he agrees or not, I can't be with him anymore!" Addy frowned, but her face was set in an expression of stubborn determination. She made a resolution not to be tortured again. "If it's not necessary, I don't want to make a scene. But if he persists, I can only sue for divorce!"
Hearing this, Simon nodded and said, "My lawyer is very famous. He has never lost a case. He can handle your case. What's more, Sean has committed domestic violence. There is no doubt that you will win the case!"
"Okay!" Addy nodded. Then she looked at Emily beside her and forced a smile. "Thank God you can come to me in time. Otherwise, I really can't imagine...what will happen tonight! I've had enough of it. I'm too afraid! Simon, Emily, thank you. It's very late. Go home and get some rest!"
Emily nodded. "Miss Sam, have good rest!"
Simon strode over with his eyes fixed on Addy's face. "Remember to go to the hospital tomorrow morning. You'd better get a doctor's report. I will help you with the past medical records. These will help you win the case!"
"Okay, I know!" Addy replied.
"Goodbye." Simon stretched out to hold Emily's hand.
"See you!" Addy nodded and saw them to the door.
The black Cayenne left the hotel and finally headed home.
On the way, neither of them spoke. Emily turned her head and watched the uninspiring, busy streets outside the window, feeling her heart had gone.
Simon had two more surgeries in the afternoon, so he was late getting off work. Plus, they went to Addy's house, so it was already ten o'clock when they came home.
After entering the house, taking a shower, they went to bed one after another.
Emily pursed her lips, but did not say a word.
Because she knew in her heart that he must do that at that time. They could not just stand by and watch Addy being bullied by her husband. Even if Addy was a stranger to them, they would say something to stop them, let alone Addy was his friend.
Simon suddenly raised her chin and forced her to meet his gaze. His Adam's apple moved slightly as he raised his eyebrows and asked, "Mrs. Chin, are you upset?"
"No..." Emily pursed her lips.
However, she more or less meant yes.
Simon laughed in a low voice and then pressed her head against his chest. As usual, he rubbed her head, paused and said, "Our relationship was different with you and Boyd."
Emily's heart sank.
When she was depressed, she heard his deep voice continue, "She was not only my lover and my girlfriend. She saved my life."
His lifesaver...
While Emily was thinking about what did the words mean, he explained. "When I was away at college in Newley City a few years ago, I met a gang of thugs in the Queen District, who lived by plundering rich people. They drugged me unconscious, held me prisoner, and then demand a large ransom from my family!"
Simon narrowed his eyes, sinking into the Slough of Despond. "When I woke up, I was in a dark and damp room, tied to a chair. Almost all the gangsters were escaped criminals. They had nothing to lose, so they were not afraid of killing people. They didn't want me to go back at all. They decided to trade my corpse for money!"
