Chapter 90
“F***king lies,” Tatum growls despite the fear that makes his heart pound.
“I can hear your heart racing Alpha, what? You never thought her mate was going to come for her one day?” Kelvin smirks at him.
Kelvin isn’t sure if Leila is his mate but she must be, they have a strong connection even without the mate bond and he hasn’t found anyone else as his mate.
The only explanation is that Leila is his mate and once he gives her the cure, he will know for sure.
Initially, he thought Tatum was Leila’s second chance fated mate and he had given up all hope on her but after learning the truth that day at the hospital, his hope rejuvenated.
It was as if he found a new life mission and he poured all his money, time and resources into finding Leila the cure.
His money easily got him most of the ingredients but the dry scorpion. lily, the most important ingredient, he had to come get himself.
He had bribed his way out of the dungeon and was in his uncle’s pack, ready to come and pay Tatum a visit to quell the matter when he received a call that there was a tiny chance for him to get the dry scorpion lily and he willingly traded his chance of freedom for it.
He doesn’t care what happens to him now, his only wish is for Leila to get her wolf and even if he has to spend the rest of his life as a fugitive, even if he is killed, he will die happy knowing that the only woman he has loved all his life is his fated mate
The day he saved Leila from being hit by the motorcycle wasn’t the first day they met, it was three years before that but Leila probably doesn’t remember.
Coincidentally, it was at Tatum’s birthday party.
He wasn’t always the brave man he is today, it was that incident with Leila that challenged him to build courage and stand up for himself.
He grew up as a rich and nerdy kid who was given everything he wanted and he quickly turned into a wu**
That day at the party he was being bullied as usual when this little girl came up and stood up to his bullies, throwing ice rocks at them and demanding they let him go, oven
Even though Lella was so little compared to him and his bullies and
Kelvin looks into Tatum’s eyes sharply, shocked by his confession. He always thought Tatum kept Leila because of the Luna position.
Tatum himself comes to a silent realisation as Kelvin stares at him. It is the first time he has said those words out loud or to himself.
He loves Leila….He loves her.
Kelvin holds his throat, opening the vial Tatum had given him and downs it before he throws the empty vial to the ground like it burns him.
“What the f**k is that? It takes like pi**” He retches.
“That’s because it contains pi*** dumb a*, virgin camel pi**. It’s the main antidote to the poison from the spear that stabbed you.”
Kevin’s eyes fly wide open but he doesn’t ask the question on his mind before Tatum answers.
“Yes, believe it or not, I tried to get her the cure too.”
