But how could this be? Why would he even call her…?!
While she was both anxious and confused, Xavia knew better than to pick that call up in front of Keith. With that in mind, she quickly said, “…Um… I need to… use the bathroom!”
Following that, she quickly rushed to a public toilet, her phone ringing the entire way…
Once she was in a safe spot, she took a deep breath before finally picking up and muttering, “…Hello…?”
“Aunt? It’s me…!” replied a familiar boy’s voice…
…Maison? While Xavia was slightly disappointed to hear his voice instead of Zivon’s, it kind of made sense after she gave it some thought. After all, Zivon had already told her not to show up before him again before this. With that in mind, why would he call her out of the blue?
Shaking the thought off, Xavia then asked, “…What’s wrong, Maison…?”
“I have jet lag so I can’t sleep… Also, the food here isn’t to my liking, and I feel terrible… Could you make me something and send it over by plane, Aunt…?”
Frowning slightly, Xavia then replied, “Aren’t there any restaurants that sell Chinese dishes there…? I’m sure there are some around… That aside, if you really can’t find any, then just cook something for yourself. After all, you’re not a bad chef.”
This instantly caused Maison to switch to an aggrieved tone as he said, “But Aunt, Daddy’s just been working nonstop since he’s arrived! I feel so lonely and hungry here…! I really miss the food you make… I refuse to eat anything else! Please do it for me, Aunt… Otherwise, I may starve to death…!”
If the one saying all this was Yulia, then Xavia would’ve simply taught her how to better adapt herself. However, Maison was autistic, and she couldn’t just ignore his pleas, especially when he was sounding this pitiful…
Since she now had a bit more time to herself after taking that video with Bianca, Xavia ultimately replied, “…Alright, I’ll ship some food over…”
“Thanks, Aunt…! Speaking of which, since Daddy has to socialize a lot here, the scent of booze is quite strong… I’m worried about him… Could you ship the stomach medicine in my room over as well…?”
Naturally, Xavia agreed, and simply did as she was told… Little did she know that her concern toward Maison would lead to another chain of events soon after…
It was two days later when Maison—who was seated at the dining table with his father—was prompted to ask, “What do you think of the food, Daddy?”
Thinking that Maison was fishing for compliments, Zivon simply nodded as he replied, “It’s pretty good.”
No, the most frustrating thing was that even though she was using such devious methods, he actually felt slightly moved! D*mn it…!
Maison couldn’t help but freeze in place when he saw just how irked his father was. Was he really that mad…?
That aside… if he didn’t want Maison to help Xavia, then that meant that he wanted her to take her own initiative, right…? But how was Maison going to help her take the initiative? What a headache…!
Back in Zivon’s room, the frustrated man lit a cigarette and gave it a good, long puff, allowing the smoke to burn through his lungs…
It was about five minutes later when he took his phone out before sending Xavia a voice message that stated, “Just because I was kind to you in the past, that doesn’t make me easily coaxed. A few meals aren’t enough to grant forgiveness for what you’ve done. We’re adults, Xavia. Be responsible for the mistake you made.”
The second Zivon sent that message, a knock could be heard at the door, followed by Jenna’s soft voice saying, “Zivon…? There’s something I need to tell you…”
Stubbing his cigarette, he then sat in front of his computer before saying, “Come in.”
