Keith Burton.
Why was he calling her?
Xavia had initially been grateful to Keith, then she treated him like a friend and got along with him, but his distrust of her had completely destroyed all that.
Now, Xavia's feelings for him were nothing more than obligatory gratitude.
Xavia calmed herself and answered the call. “Hello, Young Master Keith. Is anything the matter?”
“I’m sorry, Xavia.” The first thing he did was apologize.
Xavia frowned. Surprised and curious, she asked, “What’s wrong?”
Keith explained remorsefully, “I was the one who misjudged you about the design draft. I did not expect Jenna to be so bold, and I did not believe you would be able to come up with such a good design. I’m sorry.”
Xavia was stunned, but his apology meant nothing to her.
There were some things that could not be fixed with an apology.
Instead, she carefully asked, “How did you find out that Jenna was lying?”
Keith pursed his lips and said truthfully, “Uncle Zivon was telling Jenna off in his room earlier and I happened to be outside their door.”
So that was it.
Zivon had actually chided Jenna for her sake? A strange feeling bloomed in Xavia’s heart—it was like a pebble that had fallen into the heart of a lake, creating endless ripples on its surface.
“Xavia, I heard Uncle Zivon say that you got into a dangerous situation when you were going down the mountain. It seems I... I did not protect you well. Are you back home now?”
Xavia replied, “Yes, I’m home. I’m eating hot pot with Yulia now. You don’t have to worry.”
Xavia remembered the two children who were still inside and said, “Young Master Keith, if there’s nothing else, I have to go. I’m worried that Yulia will burn herself while cooking the meat.”
“Xavia, wait,” Keith said hurriedly, then asked, “Are you mad at me? I'll make it up to you when I get back, I promise.”
Xavia had already gotten over it. She had been upset earlier, but now she just felt indifferent after getting an apology.
“I’m not angry. It was only normal for you to misjudge me in that situation—I might not have believed it either if I was in your shoes. Alright then, I’m going to go eat hot pot now. Take care of yourself, goodbye.”
Xavia walked inside the house after ending the call.
After all, she was the reason he was injured, so she was very concerned.
It was rare for her to show concern for him, so Zivon couldn't help but smile. “I already feel much better because you’re so concerned about me.”
Xavia scowled. Did he have to be so cheesy?
Xavia came to the realization that although Zivon was a thirty-year-old man who should be mature and classy, when it came to flirtation, Zivon was on par with much younger men.
“I have some good news… Do you want to know what it is?” He asked.
Xavia already knew what it was about and said bluntly, “It's about you telling Jenna off about the design issue, right? Young Master Keith already told me about it just now.”
Zivon’s expression turned sullen and the tenderness in his voice faded as he asked her unhappily, “You contacted him as soon as you got off the plane?”
Xavia instinctively explained, “No. He called to apologize to me after hearing the conversation between you and Jenna.”
That improved Zivon’s mood slightly. “So you've forgiven him?”
“Mm-hmm.”
