Keith looked away, feeling angry and humiliated.
Outside.
Zivon casually walked into the doctor’s office and saw Xavia sitting inside. He stared at her and asked indifferently, “Were you planning to wait here until the doctor came?”
When Xavia heard Zivon’s voice, she jumped to her feet. Looking guilty, she protested, “No… I was just thinking I could sit here and wait since I’ve got nothing to do anyway. The doctor should have gone on his rounds or perhaps he went out for supper, so he should be back soon. Are you done with your checkup already?”
Zivon raised his brows and scoffed, “Do you even care about me getting a checkup?”
She had started flirting with Keith as soon as she got to the ward, so how could she possibly remember his existence?
Xavia pursed her lips. “Who said that I do not care? It’s just that… Jenna is accompanying you so there is no need for so many people to be there.”
Zivon stared at her blankly. “Is that why you went to hold the portable urinal for Keith Burton?”
It was a rude and uncouth sentence, but when Zivon said it, it just sounded cold and condescending, with a hint of jealousy.
Xavia’s small face flushed red. “He is a patient, and I was just helping him hold the portable urinal. I was not touching him there and I did not look.”
“You wanted to touch and look?”
Xavia was completely speechless. She opened her mouth to explain, then realized…
Why did she need to explain things to him?! This situation was like a girlfriend having to explain things to her jealous boyfriend—it was just too weird!
Flustered, she averted her gaze, not daring to look at him.
Someone spoke nearby, and Xavia took the opportunity to quickly say, “I’m hungry. I’m going to buy some food.”
Zivon stared at her intently, and as she walked past him, he said, “Support me.”
What? Support him?
Xavia stopped walking. She turned to him incredulously, her wide eyes silently asking if he was being serious.
Zivon stared at her and demanded, “What’s wrong? You were willing to help him hold the portable urinal when he was perfectly fine. I’m seriously injured but you cannot support me?”
Umm…
The man’s toned body was covered in wounds and bruises, and they were still glaringly obvious even though medicine had already been applied to them.
He turned around, showing her a big purple swelling on his back. It was still oozing blood!
“Oh my god, it’s actually this serious! Why aren’t you lying in bed and resting? Why are you still out?!”
Wait a minute…
Xavia thought of how Helen had said that she should walk to the hospital, and suddenly realized something. Her lips parted in surprise.
He had accompanied her here on purpose! He had to endure the long, tiring and bumpy ride just to send her here by car…
This man… he was like the rain in spring. It seemed as though it was just silently moisturizing the ground, but it was actually nourishing every inch of the earth so that plants would grow and bloom beautifully.
“Zivon.” She suddenly called his name.
It was not Uncle Zivon or Brother-in-law.
Zivon found that he liked it when she called him by his name. His intense gaze locked on her. “Mm? You can speak.”
