It only made sense for her to put her safety before money.

Now hanging on his shoulder, Xavia desperately struggled to free herself as she yelled, “L-let me go…!”

Howling in pain, the man released his grip on her, causing Xavia to fall to the ground! Though her hip hurt from the impact, she couldn’t care less about it. Instead, she immediately got to her feet before frantically bolting away!

“A wild one, eh…? How nice! Men! Bring her back to me!” roared the injured man as he stared at his bloody shoulder. He was the king of gambling city, and the grandson of the famous gambling king.

With that in mind, his men were nothing short of extraordinary! Almost immediately after his command, the dozens of bodyguards in the room quickly yelled, “Right away!”

Following that, they all bolted after the escaping woman!

Despite how long the hall was, the guards were easily able to outrun Xavia. The next thing Xavia knew, there were already several guards standing before the exit! Though Xavia immediately turned around in hopes of finding another exit, she realized a second too late that there were more bodyguards already waiting for her there! She was completely surrounded!

“Stop trying to escape and just obey Master Mike!”

After yelling in surprise, Xavia immediately began trying to break free! Unfortunately for her, a second bodyguard soon walked up to her before grabbing her wrist to wrestle the knife out of her hand!

Now extremely desperate, Xavia began wildly swinging the knife while yelling, “Get lost!”

Even if she was weak, she wasn’t going down without a fight! As she continued flailing while waving the knife around, Xavia suddenly heard a thud, prompting her to look down…

The bodyguard from earlier had fallen to his knees… and embedded in his abdomen, was the knife! It was barely a second later when his body flopped lifelessly to the ground, creating a puddle of blood that slowly encroached outward… He… He was dead…!

After three whole seconds of horrifying silence, the bodyguard that had been grappling onto Xavia quickly released her before squatting to check on his friend… and a few seconds later, he turned his pale face toward Mike while saying, “…Boss. He… He’s dead.”
