Pregnant.
This word was too powerful.
Anthony’s eyes almost popped out of his sockets. He stared at the both of them in disbelief.
What was happening? Wasn’t Miss Lockhart the chairman’s girlfriend? How could Lily Whitham be pregnant? Furthermore, the chairman was not that kind of person.
“Miss, this is not the place for you to be lying. Please do not accuse our chairman.” Anthony thought that Lily was playing a prank, so he stepped up to try and clear the scene.
Lily glanced at him with a sharp look in her eyes. After that, she walked right up to Stefan before she looked at him with her beautiful eyes, “Do you think that I am accusing you too? Chairman Talton, you dare to do it but you are refusing to admit it? You are not going to abandon your own child?”
Her voice was very firm and it carried a trace of coldness.
Two hours ago, she suddenly vomited on the plane. When the doctor examined her, she learnt that she was pregnant.
She was very excited and she was even more convinced by the thought that she had in her heart. She wanted to tie Stefan down and give her child a complete home.
She happily ran all the way here. She thought that he would be more or less happy when he heard the news. After all, this was his own flesh and blood! However, at this moment, there was only a shocked expression on his face and there were no traces of joy at all. The pain really pierced her heart.
“Chairman Talton, are you really going to abandon your own flesh and blood the same way you abandoned me?”
When she asked her question once again this time, her voice was even colder than it was earlier.
Stefan suddenly returned to his senses. After that, he rubbed the empty space between his brows and said to Anthony, “You can retreat and prepare a cup of warm milk for Miss Whitham first.”
Anthony was silent. Was the chairman acquiescing to this?
Oh my god! The chairman had a son now!
This was very big news!
Anthony didn’t dare to say anything, so he retreated and left quickly. He didn’t forget to close the office door behind him when he left.
There was once again silence in the office.
Stefan clenched his fists for a full minute before he stood up. “You can sit down first. Calm down and we will talk.”
Lily shook her head. She stepped forward and grabbed his hand. “How can you ask me to calm down now? I’m carrying your child in my womb but I feel as if my child and I have already been deprived of life and death because of the expression on your face now. How can you be so cruel? This is your child.”
This was her first time getting pregnant, and it was inevitable for her to panic and feel emotional.
If he kept the child, he would have to take responsibility toward Lily.
If he abandoned his own child, he would be giving up on his own flesh and blood, and a living person. How could he possibly be willing to do that?
And how would he explain things to Xavia?
She was the first girl to ever move his heart, and she was also the first girl that he had ever admired and respected in thirty years of his life.
Should he give up on love and live with regrets for the rest of his life?
Stefan felt a sudden and abrupt pain in his heart at the thought of having to give Xavia up.
He sat at his desk for the whole day.
Almost seven o’clock at night. It was raining in S City, and the sky was dark and foggy.
Anthony suddenly rushed into the office and said anxiously, “Chairman Talton, this is bad. This is bad.”
Stefan lifted his gaze. “What’s wrong?”
