Instantly blushing, Fabiola immediately attempted to change the topic by saying, “Y-you know what? I’m in the mood for a car race! W-what about you?”
Though disheartened by her clear refusal, Hanley eventually nodded in agreement…
Following that, they both signed her up for a car race… and in the end, she actually won! Naturally, that instantly brightened her day, and when they got home at around nine that night, Fabiola couldn’t help but say, “Thanks for accompanying me today, but… I want to celebrate with my best friend tonight, so I won’t be coming home. Don’t worry, I’ll go to you tomorrow.”
Hanley was fine with her getting personal time, so he nodded before replying, “Alright. Don’t overdrink or stay up too late, alright?”
Rolling her eyes, Fabiola then said, “Fine, Dad… Seriously, you’re just like him!”
“…How so?”
“You nag exactly like him! I know you care for me, but seriously… If you do this again, then I’ll just respond by calling you Dad!”
“…See you tomorrow,” replied Hanley with a defeated sigh before getting back into his car…
Once he was gone, she was just about to enter the house when she heard a familiar voice ask, “…Did you turn me down because of him?”
Feeling a shiver run down her spine, she turned around… and sure enough, it was Neal!
She genuinely felt distressed, and when Neal finally noticed that, he realized just how impulsive he had been! Forcing himself to calm down, he let go of her before saying, “S-sorry, I…”
Before he could finish his sentence, however, he realized just how pale she had become… and it was then that he remembered that whenever she fell into shock like this, she’d instantly fall sick because of all her childhood trauma of being kidnapped!
Panicking at the thought, he immediately rushed her to the shower to run her a hot bath before making some porridge and tea for her…
Naturally, his mind was racing throughout that period. To think that the woman who once yearned for him was now scared enough to enter a state of shock after feeling his touch… How was he expected to take this information…?!
