Sensing her confusion, Hanley sighed before adding, “…Basically, I didn’t like how close you were to him during my absence… And I don’t like you talking about him either.”
…Oh. So that was why he behaved that way…
After a brief pause, she lowered her gaze before muttering, “…Sorry, I… I’ve just gotten so used to him that I didn’t think too far ahead when I was hanging out with him… Don’t worry, we didn’t do anything…”
Pleased to hear that, Hanley slowly smiled as he replied, “…I see. I apologize for jumping the gun, then… Please punish me as you see fit. Perhaps you could choose something for me to kneel on? I can do it in public if you’d like.”
Left momentarily speechless by how absurd his words were, Fabiola eventually chuckled before saying, “…There’s really no need to go that far since you sound so sincere… Still, that doesn’t mean that you’re free from punishment.”
“Go on…” replied Hanley in a tone that suggested that he would go to the moon for her.
“Hmm… You’ll need to carry me home today! No driving, of course!”
Nodding in response, Hanley then spent the next half an hour carrying her home… But she was far from done.
“Right! You’re making me fish and chips tonight! Oh, and help me put on my slippers!”
Clenching his fists, he was prompted to growl, “…You’re lucky you hadn’t hurt her… Otherwise, your hands would be gone now…!”
With watery eyes, Wanda retorted, “B-but she tried to snatch you from me…! She deserved it, and… And as long as she’s out of the picture, I’m sure your heart will return to me…!”
Clearly not expecting her to be this distorted, Neal rubbed his temples for a while before replying, “…First of all, she didn’t try to separate us at all… And secondly. Though I convinced myself that I loved you for the longest time… I now know that the only person I truly care about is her.”
Watching as Wanda went pale, Neal added, “…I’m sorry for giving you false hope.”
