Zivon was vomiting blood!
Instantly rushing toward the pale man, Jacob asked, “What the hell? What happened?!”
Completely caught off guard by their arrival, Zivon pursed his lips before solemnly replying, “…It’s nothing major, though… Don’t tell Xav about this.”
“Bullshit! This medicine bottle only has two pills left in it! Just how long has this persisted?! And why haven’t you gone to a hospital yet?!” growled the anxious Jacob while looking at the sole medicine bottle on Zivon’s table.
Before Zivon could reply, Ellen walked up to the two and said, “…That’s enough. I’m sure he has his reasons…”
Though Zivon was relieved that she was on his side, his eyes instantly widened when he felt a tiny jab in his arm… and upon looking down, he realized that Ellen had just tranquilized him!
As much as he tried to resist, he soon ended up slumping over… and after Jacob had helped him onto the bed, the confused man couldn’t help but ask, “…Why are we resorting to this again?”
“Knowing him, he’ll just keep on denying that anything is wrong with him, so we’ll just have to look into this ourselves. Also, he’s finally getting some well-earned rest, so there’s that.”
Watching as she began searching for clues in the room, the impressed Jacob couldn’t help but say, “…Your deductive capabilities are really admirable.”
“…Stop wasting time and help me already,” replied Ellen as she found a few more bags of prescribed medicine within Zivon’s drawer…
‘The medicine will only slow down the spread of the poison’s residue, so once it gets too bad, please come back for treatment. This can’t be delayed for too long.’
“…You sure you’re really willing to do anything?” asked the gruff man.
Gulping slightly, Ellen pretended to be aggrieved as she replied, “…According to the best doctor we’ve found, he only has ten days left to live, so… As long as you can save him, anything is fine…! If he gets to recover, then Brother will surely work for you for free as well!”
Joseph had run a background check on them before this, and from what he had found, they were apparently from a poor village and their biological parents were long dead. With that in mind, there was no way that they were going to be able to go back on their word, right?
Not even bothering to look at the ‘rashes’ on Jacob’s face, Joseph gave Ellen a good, long look… and once he was satisfied with her beauty, he nodded to himself before saying, “…Deal. Follow me.”
Though the two were glad to hear that their plan was working so far, they didn’t account for Joseph’s vigilance, and soon enough…
