Before Xavia could finish her sentence and tell Zivon nothing was going on between her and Mark, he put his finger on her lips and interrupted her.
“In the future, I don't want to hear anything about him from you, not even his name.”
He was acting as domineering and cold as ever. Xavia tried to protest, “No, I meant to say that…”
Knock, knock!
At that moment, there was a knock on the door. The doctor and professor had come to check on Zivon, and Xavia was instantly embarrassed.
Her hair was messy, her face was unwashed, and her clothes were rumpled! She was even in a patient's bed! She was mortified! She couldn't be seen in this state!
She shot out of bed and ran to hide inside the bathroom.
Zivon’s gaze darkened at her actions. Was there a need to hide the relationship between them?
It was as if they were cheating!
“Come in,” Zivon called out as he grabbed his clothes and put them on.
The doctor and professor came in with his permission for a daily inspection.
“Ziv, you’re doing well now. Keep it up, and don’t think about that vile woman anymore. Women are just mere worldly possessions. Your research and career are more important. Besides, that woman is ill-mannered and bad. She doesn’t deserve you at all!”
Xavia, who was in the toilet, clenched her hands tightly when she heard those words. Before she could react, the professor continued, “Your junior is coming back soon. You used to be close to each other, weren't you? You two even worked in the same industry! I've always dreamed of the day you two could get together so that you'd be my grandson-in-law! Finally, there's a chance to do so. Get well soon and forget about that woman, alright? I’ll surely arrange the best marriage for you.”
Xavia was speechless. Zivon's teacher was really good at comforting people, huh?
But what surprised her more was that Zivon had not objected to any of the man's words. Did that mean he agreed and accepted it?
Zivon was being so gentle and sweet, and Xavia could not believe he would still hug her in his arms and say such sweet and affectionate words.
It felt a thousand times better than leaving him and torturing each other!
She wrapped her arms around his shoulders and said, “I believe you. But… I don’t think you’re being very honest right now.”
“Hm?” Zivon did not understand what she meant.
Xavia looked at him and continued, “When I randomly did something back then, you would be suspicious, angry, and even impulsive. But now, you don’t care about it and treat me so well. Why? Can I trust that you're no longer mad and have figured things out?”
If he had been this way from the beginning, she wouldn't have needed to act the way she did to force him up! If they had always got along like this, it wouldn’t have mattered if he was disabled.
Zivon’s eyes darkened when Xavia asked that question.
