“Yulia had a nosebleed and fainted!”
Crash! The cup by Xavia’s hand fell and there was the sound of the glass shattering to pieces. Xavia stood up abruptly in shock.
“I will…I’ll be right back.”
“Chairman Talton, I’m so sorry. Yulia suddenly fainted. I have to go back first.”
Stefan stood up and grabbed her wrist. “I will accompany you. I’m familiar with the hospital.”
His voice was domineering, very safe and reassuring.
Xavia looked at him and nodded after a second. “Okay.”
Yulia was quickly sent to the hospital under Stefan’s arrangement, and she was examined by a professional doctor who was also a professor.
Xavia was very scared and apprehensive when she recalled the image of her daughter’s bloodied face just now. “Yulia bled so much. Could it be that she has some sort of illness?”
Dolly was also frightened, but she still comforted her, “No, that mustn’t be the case. It’s probably because there is too much internal heat in her body, or perhaps because some children accidentally bumped her nose when they played in the kindergarten. Anyway, you don’t have to worry. There are so many professional doctors here. Everything will be fine.”
Stefan also held Xavia’s cold and small hand. “Calm down. Just wait for the doctor’s report calmly.”
Their voices were both very warm and encouraging.
Xavia nodded heavily. She held her hands tightly, already covered in fine sweat as she prayed in her heart that nothing would happen to Yulia.
Click! The emergency room door opened about half an hour later and the doctor came out.
Xavia greeted him immediately, “Doctor, how is my daughter? Is she awake?”
The doctor glanced at Xavia and Stefan who were holding hands, and he knew that they had an extraordinary relationship. So he said politely, “Miss, Chairman Talton, the patient is awake but…” He hesitated when he was about to say the second half of his sentence.
Xavia was extremely nervous. “But what?”
The doctor sighed and he glanced at Stefan before saying, “The patient is suffering from blood cancer.”
Blood cancer!
“Anthony, prepare the helicopter. We will depart in an hour.”
Anthony wanted to ask Stefan about the project’s progress. However, when he saw the chairman’s solemn look and posture, he didn’t dare to say anything, so he could only nod before going to make the arrangements hurriedly.
Stefan’s father was furious when he received the phone call.
“The woman that you are dating already has a daughter? You’re even asking me to make the arrangements at the hospital for her daughter? Stefan, are you insane or am I out of my mind and can’t seem to be able to keep up with the times anymore?”
Stefan replied, “Dad, Xavia was also a victim back then. The rapist is the one at fault and it has nothing to do with her. What’s more is that she is an independent girl who raised her child on her own. She is kind and self-reliant.”
“The child’s condition is the most important right now, so you should make the arrangements immediately.”
Stefan’s father was extremely angry. “I think you must be insane. You’re worrying for nothing over an unclean woman who has a child. Your mother and I are absolutely against your relationship with her.”
“I can help you to find a bed for her but you will have to break up with her then!”
Stefan was stunned. “Dad, what decade are you living in now? You’re still using such a vile tactic?”
