Anthony narrowed his eyes dangerously and glanced at Anne.
Anne did not mind when Anthony answered his phone but stiffened when she sensed his eyes on her. She started guessing who had called and whether it involved her.
'Did Dad wake up?' She thought. 'No, it doesn't look like it judging from the look on Anthony's face.'
"Are you certain?" Anthony questioned hoarsely.
"Yes. No one else has touched the samples," Kathryn said confidently.
Without another word, Anthony hung up and proceeded with eating his lunch.
Anne wanted to ask him about it, but held back because the children were still around.
"Mama, will you stay with us in the evening?" Chloe asked.
"You don't have work anymore, right?" Chris asked.
"Papa works and Mama works as well. So annoying!" Charlie complained while waving the spoon in his hand.
"I do have something to do this afternoon, but I can come back when I'm done," Anne said gently.
She did not plan on staying the night. Though she did not care much about what Bianca might think, she still needed to stay in line.
"When will you be done?" Chloe asked, not accepting her excuse easily.
"I'll come back at night."
Anthony's request must be a top priority.
"What do you think the results might be?" Anthony asked expressionlessly.
Sensing the pressure from him, she said, "I'm my dad's daughter."
She wondered for a moment if Anthony was going to side with Bianca.
"You've done a paternity test yourself?"
"...No," she said, as she had only heard from her mother, but she was certain that Sarah would know who the father of her child was.
The tension inside the car rose and her heart sank. She was not quite sure why she felt nervous, but Anthony's presence was simply too intimidating.
