A postman knocked on the door outside the Jacob family’s yard.

“Is anybody home?”

Hillary heard the knock, ran to the door and took the folder.

The postman said, “Miss, please sign here.”

Hillary opened the document impatiently after she signed for it. Her heart was pounding.

She really got into Oxford University. She was so ecstatic that she put everything including Jinn behind her.

Getting into Oxford University meant that she could study abroad in England. That meant that she could free herself from the Jacob family. She did not have to face Winson’s impartiality, nor did she need to deal with Lina’s temper anymore. Most importantly, she did not have to face that annoying Cara.

Hillary was extremely excited.

However, Cara had already complained everything to Winson. Winson was furious. He was already yelling at Hillary from far away.

“Hillary! Come here!”

Hillary was used to her father scolding her. She ignored her father and showed him the offer letter to Oxford University. Excitedly, she said to Winson, “Dad, I got into Oxford University. I can study in England now!”

Winson kept a straight face and snatched the offer letter from her. He simply took a glance and slammed it on the table.

Winson crossed his hands behind his back and said with a gloomy face, “There’s no need for a girl to study abroad. What is the use of you staying so far away from home?”

Hillary’s bright smile disappeared immediately upon hearing what Winson said.

“Dad, there’s a lot of girls studying abroad these days. Moreover, I have better opportunities to learn and a better future if I study at higher educational institutions like Oxford University. Dad, I got into a world-renowned university, aren’t you happy for me?”

Winson frowned. “I want to ask you something. Did you mean it when you bullied your sister and said all those stuff to her earlier?”

Her words were so harsh that even Winson was too embarrassed to repeat what she said.

She called Cara an illegitimate child. She was literally slapping Winson in his face.

Hillary pursed her lips and said, “Yes, isn’t what I said the truth? Isn’t Cara your illegitimate daughter?”

Winson glared at her, lifted his hands, and slapped her across the face.

The slap was so hard that the corner of Hillary’s lips started bleeding. Pain shot through the right side of her face.

However, her heart ached more. She clenched her fists, lifted her face, and stared straight into Winson’s eyes. She roared, “Dad, have you even ever loved mum? Lina killed mum but you still married her! Mum wouldn’t have died if it wasn’t for Lina and her daughter!”

“That’s enough! Shut up!”

Hillary scoffed miserably, “Shut up? I hit your sore point, didn’t I? I remembered you loved me a lot when I was young, but why did you marry Lina right after mum died? You didn’t even care about me. You blamed me for everything without finding out the truth after Cara and I argued. Was it really my fault? Dad, am I really your biological daughter?”

Winson’s heart softened slightly after seeing tears of grievance in Hillary’s eyes. He lowered his tone but his words were still as sharp as a knife.

“Hillary, you’re two years older than Cara. You’re her older sister, so you should be more considerate to her!”

Cara was adding oil to the fire as she said, “Moreover, it was your fault to begin with. You did something heinous with Master Shayne earlier. You misbehaved.”

“You’re helpless!”

Furious, Winson clenched his heart in his fist. He sat on the chair and his face turned red.

Lina came out from the kitchen as she heard all the commotion going on. She said, “What’s wrong? Hillary, why did you make your father angry again? I told you he has problems with his heart. He’ll get ill!”

Lina rolled her eyes at Hillary.

Hillary glared at her father with eyes filled with hatred. “Why does it even matter whether such a father is alive or not? It makes no difference to me.”

Winson’s eyes widened. He never thought she would say something so heinous.

“You’re a rebellious girl! A rebellious girl indeed!”

Lina never thought that Hillary would say something like that as well. She was taken aback. “Your mouth is so wicked although you’re still young. How can you say something like that to your father? Aren’t you afraid that God will punish you?”

“You guys are the ones who should be punished! Not me!”

Lina immediately said in grievance, “Winson, look at how she’s behaving!”

Winson pointed at the door and said, “Get out of this house if you don’t wish to stay here anymore!”

Hillary grabbed the offer letter on the table, turned around, and ran out of the Jacob family’s house.

Whoever wanted to stay in that house may stay! She never wanted to return to this house again!
