Cherie felt uncomfortable when she returned to the crowded cabin from the main deck.
They had to spend the night on the cruise ship.
The other guests were all excited to mess with the newlyweds.
However, Cherie felt nauseous and was at the brink of throwing up.
She frantically left the crowd and returned to her room.
Just as she was about to insert her keycard upon arriving at her room, the ship seemed to have been struck by a huge wave as it rocked violently.
It seemed the waves at night were more violent than they were during the day.
Since she was the maid of honor and was wearing high heels, she stumbled and fell when the cruise ship rocked.
However, a long slender arm reached out and grabbed her wrist tightly, stopping her from falling.
"Be careful."
Cherie raised her head and looked up. Her gaze was met by the man's extremely handsome face as he stared intensely at her.
Boyle never said much as he picked up her fallen keycard, scanned it and carried her back into her room.
Cherie was desperately holding back her overwhelmingly burning nauseous sensation.
Boyle noticed how awful she looked and just as he was about to reach out to check her temperature, she suddenly flung his arm away, covered her mouth, dashed into the washroom and started puking.
Boyle hastily rushed over to her. He bent over, reached out and gently patted her back before asking her in a soft tone, "Sea sick?"
Since Cherie had not eaten anything for the entire day, the only thing she puked up was bile.
Boyle frowned as his heart ached and he felt very worried about her.
Boyle helped her up after she was done puking. He led her to the sink and turned on the tap.
He grabbed a clean single use napkin, soaked it and helped wipe the puke stain off the corners of her mouth.
After that, he brought her a glass of water and said, "Just rinse your mouth."
He placed her in between his arms thus preventing her from slipping again if the cruise ship started to rock.
He cared for her unconditionally.
Cherie accepted his glass of water hesitantly before she started rinsing her mouth clean. She felt much better after the bitter aftertaste of bile and vomit was completely rinsed away from her mouth.
Boyle then hugged her from behind before grabbing her soft little hands and washing them in the sink. He lowered his head and whispered, "This isn't good for you. You've just puked and you'd feel more exhausted. You need to eat something."
Cherie was in a complete daze in his arms and the only thing she could feel was the flowing water on her hands.
Boyle asked in a gentle tone, "What do you want to eat? I'll grab some food from the kitchen."
Boyle assumed she did not want to eat anything since she remained silent.
"If you don't feel like eating anything, do you want some oats then?" He gave her suggestions in a gentle tone.
Cherie's belly was completely empty at the moment and she was actually feeling quite hungry. The truth was, she did not hear what he actually said to her earlier. All she did was nod.
Boyle closed the tap and wiped her hands dry with a clean towel before carrying her in his arms.
He carried her to the bed from the washroom.
Boyle then knelt down and took her high heels off.
The high heels were new and it had scraped off some skin off her ankles. The little red mark stood out like a sore thumb.
Boyle stared intensely at the scrape wound on her ankles and gently rubbed it with his fingertips.
Perhaps she felt a little ticklish from his graze as Cherie immediately buried her legs underneath her covers.
The lights in the room were a little dim.
Boyle was worried that the lights might make her eyes feel uncomfortable so he switched off all of the lights except for a few lamps by the wall.
Boyle cracked a subtle grin when he noticed Cherie completely burying herself underneath the covers like a little mouse being fully on guard.
He said, "Be a good girl and stay here. I'll get you some food."
The instant Boyle exited the room, he was met by Hector.
"Hey Boyle, the guests were all messing with the newlyweds. Only the maid of honor is missing. That is unacceptable. The maid of honor is supposed to protect the bride from the other guests."
Boyle took a glance back at the room. He said, "Cherie was sea sick and she had just vomited. I need to take care of her. Just hang in there for a little while longer with the others. Cherie and I will not be joining you guys."
"You can play dumb all you want and I don't really mind if you ignore me because love is a one sided thing anyway. You don't have to reciprocate my feelings toward you. All you have to do is sit back, relax and enjoy all of the affection I'm offering you."
Cherie was speechless.
Love? If this was all about love then why did he even choose to break up with her so cruelly back then?
Her tears started to fall out of the corners of her eyes gradually under the dim light.
It was unsure if she found it comical to believe what he said or if she was just touched or if it was due to her being in a weakened state since she was sick which made her cry.
She was unable to clearly tell how she was feeling.
Boyle raised his hand and wiped her tears away with his fingertips as he said, "Don't cry. I didn't pursue after you just to watch you cry."
She asked, "If I never agreed to a reconciliation with you forever, would you be pursuing after me forever as well?"
"It's my fault for abandoning you seven years ago. I will never abandon you ever again." Boyle replied in a confident tone.
Cherie lowered her tear stained eyes and gently shook her head. She said, "We can never go back to the way things were before anymore, Boyle."
Seven years was enough to completely cause any feelings to fade away.
She was no longer the same naive and shamelessly clingy child as she once was.
Boyle was not disappointed as he said with a calm smile while staring intensely at her, "Since you're unwilling to return to my side, I'll do my best to return to your side then. Come on now Cherie, what I want is never to return to the way things were before. Cherie, what I want is to spend my present and future with you."
It did not matter to him even if she was unwilling to allow him that luxury since a lifetime was a really long time and he was willing to wait for her no matter how long she would take.
Cherie remained silent.
Boyle patted her little head and said, "Go on now, eat your oats. A good child will never waste any food."
Boyle got up and left the room after saying that.
He wanted to give her enough time to take in everything that had happened that night.
She had depression and she would be a little more reserved than normal people when it came to relationships.
He did not force her since he knew she would not be used to him yet.
