Upon arriving at the recording studio, Cherie was blinded by the bright sunlight the instant she got out of the car.
She instinctively blocked it with her hand.
She had not seen the sun in a really long time. It made her feel slightly dizzy when the bright light stung her eyes.
Wendy was hugging Cherie's arm as they walked into the recording studio and said, "There are seven celebrities altogether. Three of them are men and local A-list celebrities. The other three are also huge A-list local female celebrities and then there’s you, someone who’s currently a nobody in the industry. It’s seven people in total. You should just mingle with them later and not just sit alone like a complete shut-in, alright? Just assume that I’m begging you to do so."
Cherie raised her brows and said, "Would it be appropriate for a nobody like me to mingle amongst extremely well-known local A-list celebrities?"
"How would it not be? You're a fresh new face and when the episode of 'Run' airs, the audience will no doubt be drawn to you. Besides, you’re more attractive than the other no-name celebrities in our country. Look, audiences these days care more about looks. This will definitely work out for you as long as you put on a good show and be a little more aggressive."
Cherie remained silent, a bitter look on her face.
All the other celebrities had arrived by the time Cherie and her group were there. Cherie, who was a complete nobody, was late.
The director said, "Let's get to know each other first before we start anything. It'll be better for the show if everyone is well acquainted with each other. Not to mention, a lot of games in our show emphasize teamwork so you guys have to show your connection better."
Wendy left after saying some parting words to Cherie.
Cherie was sitting under a shaded booth with the others.
The other A-list celebrities seemed to be getting along pretty well. On the other hand, Cherie was sitting quietly alone at a corner.
Wade Lexis, a local celebrity, approached Cherie and started flirting with her.
"Are you the pianist Momo? I heard you're quite famous overseas. I'm Wade and was a singer. However, I'm acting these days."
Wade extended his hand and greeted Cherie.
Cherie did not shake his hand since she was not used to socializing with strangers. She simply replied in a calm tone, "Greetings."
Wade continued speaking even after noticing how cold she was. "Your real name is Cherie Fudd, right?"
"Yeah."
"How adorable. Your parents have quite a creative mind when they named you. Momo sounds weird. I'm going to call you Cherie."
Cherie was still quite cold as she replied, "Do whatever you want."
Wade nudged her with his shoulder and said, "We might need to draw lots for our teams later. I'll let the director know that we'll be in the same team, alright?"
Cherie hated being nudged by him and simply moved away as she said, "I thought we're drawing lots? Let's just leave it to that then."
Wade had successfully attracted quite a number of other local female celebrities with his baby-face appearance. He was used to attracting female celebrities without much effort.
When he noticed how adorable and pure Cherie looked, he was thinking about making her his future friend with benefits. However, he did not expect her to be so difficult to reel in.
'Such a waste for someone with such an adorable little face.'
Since Cherie had quite a cold personality, Wade felt like his self-esteem was slightly affected by her harsh treatment.
Usually with just a single wink, he would be swarmed by a massive wave of female fans who were there just to give him flowers. However, it seemed the lady had such a cold and arrogant personality for someone her age.
Wade was an investor for the show. Although he was technically a B-list celebrity, he had as much influence as other A-list celebrities and was feeling quite displeased with Cherie.
They all changed into their sports attire when they began their first shoot.
Since Cherie signed the contract pretty late, her sports shoes were made for the previous celebrity that was fired. They were a size thirty-eight and too big for Cherie.
Cherie normally wore size thirty-seven shoes.
However, the set did not have any extra sports shoes. All she could do was tighten her shoelaces to make it fit.
They arrived at their obstacle course. The first round would be played in the pool and they were all divided into three teams.
She did not know what horrible luck she had when she drew her lot and was placed in the same team as Wade.
Wade approached her and spoke with a smile, "Whoa, Cherie, we're fated to be together today. We ended up together even when we had to draw lots. I’ll perform well later and we’ll win the most points."
He felt blind when he told the director he wanted to be in the same team with Cherie since his decision had made him lose several rounds in a row. The viewers would no doubt call him dumb when the episode was eventually aired.
He felt the need to redeem himself.
The director realized the tension that was building up on set, so he said, "Why don't we take a half an hour break for now. We'll continue later."
Cherie's physical strength used to be alright. However, being on prescribed medication for the past few years had affected her stomach and caused her to be significantly weaker. She was exhausted from swimming earlier and sat alone at a corner with a towel wrapped over her body. She was not in the mood to talk to anyone.
…
In the MO company branch.
Boyle found out about Cherie's schedule with Calum's help. He realized that she would be recording for a show that was quite physically taxing for her.
Boyle said, "I need you to find out where exactly today’s recording will be held at."
Calum returned to report his findings after ten minutes. "Boss, Miss Fudd will be recording in North City's recording studio today. I was told by the staff that Miss Fudd has fallen into the water several times in a row already."
Boyle's gaze grew cold as he got up and strode out of his office. "Let's go to the studio."
Calum rushed over to him as much as he was reluctant to follow since he was aware of just how much his boss cared about Miss Fudd.
The future Madam Lawson. It seemed Miss Fudd would be his boss' future wife.
…
The black Bentley made its way to the recording studio.
Boyle was squeezing his brows while sitting in the back seat.
Calum took a glance through the rearview mirror and said, "You don't have to worry too much, boss. Miss Fudd will be fine."
When Boyle looked up, his gaze felt incredibly cold.
