After getting off work, Verian first went to the kindergarten to pick up Little Jelly Bean. She then went to the hospital with the little munchkin.
With one hand holding the little munchkin's pink Peppa Pig school bag, she held the little munchkin with another hand. They walked into the hospital together.
Little Jelly Bean saw Heaton sitting on a chair in the long corridor from afar and ran over with her two short legs. "Daddy!"
Heaton heard her and looked over. His cold look gradually softened after seeing both mother and daughter.
Little Jelly Bean rushed into Heaton's arms. Her two little hands hugged his neck and she said coquettishly, "Daddy, you haven't seen Little Jelly Bean for a day. Do you miss Little Jelly Bean?"
Heaton lowered his head and kissed the little munchkin's cute white forehead, saying with a faint smile, "Hm, I miss you."
"Then Daddy, do you miss Monty?"
When Little Jelly Bean asked this, two of the adults were stunned.
Verian bit her lip. Heaton looked at her intriguingly with his deep glance. Her face warmed slightly as she heard him say unhurriedly, "You should ask Monty if she misses daddy."
Little Jelly Bean was young and did not understand the fun between men and women. Her little white finger pointed to Verian beside her and reminded Heaton, "Daddy, Monty is here. She has heard it all. Do I have to ask for you?"
Heaton locked his eyes on the little munchkin and his thin lips spit out a word, "Ask."
"Okay!"
Little Jelly Bean tilted her small face and looked at Verian with her big watery eyes. "Monty! Daddy asks if you miss him!"
Why had she not noticed before that this man was so childish?!
However, as she saw the meaningful smile in his dark eyes, Verian realized that he was not childish. He just wanted to tease her deliberately.
She simply sat down on the nearby chair and answered directly, "I don't miss him."
Why should she miss him?
When she recalled that there was a child between him and Nancy, she felt like escaping from him as soon as possible. Why would she miss him?
Little Jelly Bean pouted her little mouth. "Daddy, Monty doesn't miss you!"
She thought that Heaton would tease her with words but there was no sound. Subconsciously, Verian glanced at him a few times. "W-Well, when will the old master come ‘round?"
"The doctor said if there's nothing unexpected, he'll come around tomorrow."
Little Jelly Bean heard that her grandfather would come around tomorrow so she clapped her hands happily. "Great! Today, my teacher taught us how to fold paper cranes. I folded lots of paper cranes. When grandpa comes around tomorrow, I'll give him the paper cranes!"
Little Jelly Bean ran over to open her school bag and took the paper cranes out from the schoolbag to show Heaton and Verian. "Daddy, Monty, do you think the paper cranes I folded look good?"
Verian could not help but raise her hand to caress her little head. "They look good. Grandpa will definitely be very happy if Jelly Bean gives him the paper cranes."
The little munchkin nodded innocently, and her little voice sounded adorable. "Yeah! Grandpa will be fully healed when he's happy!"
After she finished speaking, Little Jelly Bean leaned against Heaton's long legs and raised her face to ask him, "Daddy, did you eat the breakfast Monty brought you this morning?"
The man frowned. "Breakfast?"
"Hm! I told Monty that daddy doesn’t eat breakfast in the morning, but Monty was afraid that daddy would be hungry so she brought breakfast for daddy!"
'No—' Verian screamed from the bottom of her heart. She felt a little guilty and as soon as she looked up, her eyes met the man's playful and meaningful gaze. "It turns out that there’s a really loving breakfast."
Little Jelly Bean grinned when she heard that her grandfather had come around. "Daddy, grandpa's come around! Let's go in and see if grandpa is okay?"
Heaton held Little Jelly Bean by her hand and agreed with her in a low voice.
Verian stayed in place, and she bit her lips as she said, "I... I better not go in. I'm afraid the old master will be angry when he sees me."
Heaton did not embarrass her and held Little Jelly Bean's hand as they walked into the ward.
The old man's face was still covered with an oxygen mask. Little Jelly Bean ran to his hospital bed with her small arms lying on the bedside. She blinked her big eyes, looked at the old man, and asked with her cute voice, "Grandpa, when can you get up from the bed? Jelly Bean wants you to get better soon."
The old man raised his hand weakly and held Little Jelly Bean's hand. His look was full of doting love.
When he looked at Heaton, it was obvious that his face turned stern. Heaton pursed his thin lips and said, "Dad, I know you're still mad at me now. We'll talk again when you get better."
After talking to the old man in the ward for a while, Heaton brought Little Jelly Bean out by carrying her hand. "When grandpa gets better after a few days, daddy will bring you to see grandpa again. Now, grandpa needs to rest."
Little Jelly Bean nodded obediently. "Grandpa, Jelly Bean will leave first. In a few days, Jelly Bean will come to see you again. Take care of your health, Grandpa. Don't get angry, okay?"
The old man was warmed by this little munchkin. He had just walked through the gate of hell so his corners of eyes became moist and filled with touching tears when he heard the considerate words from Little Jelly Bean. He nodded his chin slightly.
Although Little Jelly Bean was only a three-year-old child, she behaved much better than an unfilial son in his thirties!
Heaton had just walked out of the ward with Little Jelly Bean when Verian asked eagerly, "How is the old master?"
"He seems to be in good spirits. I will ask Madam Leah to come here to take care of him later. Let me send you and Jelly Bean home first."
When they got into the car, Verian thought about Old Master Fudd's medical condition. She hesitated before asking, "Heaton, during this period, you better not talk about me before the old master. Also, don't... Don't mention what you've said before...about marrying me…”
