Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 867

Cherie lowered her head to look at Boney who was beside her ankle. She squatted down and patiently removed its claws as she said, "Boney, I need to leave now. I'll visit you soon in the future, okay?"

Boyle was a little touched when he heard her say that.

Did this mean that she would come back and visit soon?

However, Boyle would never do anything he was not confident in.

The man strode over to her and spoke in a serious tone, "Boney missed you too in the last seven years."

Cherie ignored him as she patted Boney’s soft and chubby little body and said, "But I'm leaving now."

A playful glint flashed across Boyle's eyes as he suggested, "Why don't I lend Boney to you for a few days."

Lend?

Cherie felt extremely uncomfortable when she heard that word. "Boney was picked up by me in the first place. If it wasn't for my persistence in keeping it, it would not be here with you now."

Boyle did not argue and agreed with her. "Yeah, you're right."

"Boney is mine in the first place so even if I want to bring it home with me, you have no right to stop me."

"Of course." Boyle continued to agree with her without question.

While Cherie was stunned for a second, Boney had already climbed up into her arms while clinging onto her.

"Meow, meow."

Cherie could not bear to leave such a sweet and clingy cat behind. It seemed Boney was just as clingy as her when she used to date Boyle. She did not want to reject Boney.

Cherie carried Boney, cleared her throat, and said, "I'll be taking Boney home with me for a few days."

"Be my guest." He was extremely generous.

Cherie only realized she had fallen into Boyle's trap after getting into her freshly repaired red Porsche 911 and placing Boney on the front passenger seat.

It seemed after bringing Boney home, would it mean she would still have to meet Boyle one more time when Boyle wanted Boney back?

She could not be bothered to think about that at the moment since all she wanted was to take care of Boney in her home for the next few days.

Both North City and the Capital each had a MO Group company branch.

Boyle went to work after he was done settling in at North City.

The workload was incredibly heavy in the branch company since plenty of overseas projects had been transferred over, increasing their workload there.

After having a three-hour-long executive meeting to discuss business strategies, Boyle exited the meeting room.

Calum said, "Boss, a guest is currently waiting in the break room. It’s Miss Collins and she claims to be your best friend with our receptionist so we didn't send her away."

Miss Collins.

Boyle obviously knew who had shown up.

He had kept somewhat brief contact with Layla in the last seven years.

Boyle pushed the glass door open and entered the break room. Layla stood up and greeted him with a smile.

"Long time no see, President Lawson."

Boyle chuckled as he said, "Are you here to make fun of me by calling me President Lawson?"

"I know."

"Then explain to me what makes you think you still have the right to make her willing to get back with you after you've hurt her so much seven years ago?"

Boyle chuckled as he said, "You're wrong. I’ve never once considered that she’d be willing to get back together with me."

Layla asked, "So even if you're unable to get her, you'll still persist?"

"As long as I’m able to watch over her and keep her company, it'll be completely fine by me even if she's unwilling to reconcile with me forever."

Layla was stunned when she noticed just how serious he looked. "I believe I didn't lose to Cherie seven years ago. I actually lost to you instead. I always thought you were extremely mature, which was why gaining or losing something was so important to you. You'd only do something when you saw any hope of gaining something. However, she seems to have completely derailed any sort of order or principles you've set for yourself."

"Gaining or losing something has always been important to me. I started a business because I want to gain something. I desperately tried to make money because there’s something to gain from it. Layla, do you know why I'm so obsessed over these things?"

Layla replied without hesitation, "Because you grew up poor and had nothing. Every poor and impoverished kid will dream of gaining everything."

Boyle replied, "Yeah, that's how I saw things once. I was chasing an empty dream completely built on a false sense of accomplishment. That alone isn't enough to propel me to the position I’m at today. She’s my sole motivation, you know.

"I rejected the offer to further my studies overseas seven years ago because of her. I accepted your invitation to study abroad after that because of her. I started MO Group because of her. I yearn for her. It was her, it's always been her."

The greatest motivation for anyone would be completely pouring in all their feelings of want and yearning for a single person toward their work. Such an obsession was incredibly powerful.

Layla stared at him when she was about to leave, "Boyle, you're an obsessive maniac."

Boyle admitted he was sick.

"I’m sick and she’s my medicine. If she doesn't give me my medicine, I'd die."

Layla still could not understand him as she asked, "I still can't understand why you even broke up with Cherie back then."

Boyle did not explain much to her as he simply swallowed his pride and accepted the blame. "I've wronged her."
