Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 835

Cherie fell ill a few days after Christmas.

She was in a feverish state.

When Boyle returned home from his law firm, he noticed the child was completely slumped over by the bed while her long hair completely covered her little face in her cotton pajamas. This terrified Boyle.

He actually thought she was dead.

He strode over and checked her breathing. Fortunately, she was still alive.

Boyle let out a sigh of relief before carrying her up in bed and feeling her forehead.

Luckily, it was not too hot.

The woman blinked repeatedly while pouting her lips as she asked in a weak tone, "Boyle, am I going to die?"

"Oh, please, it's only a regular fever. I'll grab the thermometer."

Boyle placed the thermometer underneath her armpit while telling her, "Keep the thermometer there for five minutes. Don't drop it. I'll be making some chicken soup."

A certain someone pouted her lips while leaning back into the bed as she tugged his sleeve and said, "I don't want chicken soup."

Due to her fever, everything was tasteless to her and even more so, bitter. She wanted to eat something heavy.

Boyle turned around, sat beside her while caressing her warm, flustered, little face with his huge hand as he asked in a soft tone, "What do you want to eat then?"

"I want to eat spicy chicken lasagna."

Fortunately, he brought home some homemade cheese from his hometown last time and it was stored in the fridge.

"Alright, I'll get to cooking. You will stay here and get your temperature read."

Boyle went to the kitchen to cook for her. However, he was worried and returned to the room after five minutes.

Just as he expected, she actually forgot all about her temperature check as she laid in bed lazily like a little pig.

Boyle walked over to her and grabbed the thermometer from under her armpits. He took a glance at the reading and it showed, '38 degrees Celsius.'

This did not warrant any fever medicine. However, she still had to sweat.

After Boyle was done making lasagna, he poured a glass of hot water and brought both the food and water into the room.

Cherie pointed to herself while leaning against the bed. She wanted to be fed.

Boyle sat by the bed, picked up a spoon and fed her the lasagna.

"What do you think? Compared to my mom's, does it taste good?"

"As good as hers. However, it could use more cheese."

The woman pointed at the lasagna on the plate when she said that.

Boyle chuckled. It seemed she was fine since her appetite was quite good.

It did not take long for her to finish her lasagna.

Boyle brought the glass of water close to her mouth. After drinking half a glass of hot water, Cherie comfortably laid back down underneath her covers.

In order to take care of her, Boyle brought his laptop over from his study and started working by the window.

He stayed by her side until midnight. He reached out to feel her forehead and after making sure her fever had receded, he kept his laptop and went ahead to take a shower.

The instant he got under the covers after he was done with his shower, the little rascal burrowed underneath his arms.

Since her fever had receded and her taking such a long nap at noon, she happened to be wide awake at this hour. However, it was unsure if she was confused from her fever to have caused her to ask him a bunch of illogical questions.

"Can you buy some cotton candy and ice cream for me tomorrow, Boyle?"

"Sure, I'll buy them for you tomorrow."

"Boyle, will we be together forever?"

Boyle stared at her pure, dark beady eyes before hugging her in his arms while nuzzling her forehead with his chin as he replied with a sigh, "We will. We will be together forever."

"Boyle, I'm feeling quite insecure and only by clinging onto you will I feel secure. I will be much more clingy in the future. Will you think that I'm annoying?"

Boyle lowered his head to kiss her eye as he said, "No. I prefer it when you're clingy toward me."

Cherie stared at the ceiling before lying back down obediently as she said, "Can you take me to watch the sakuras bloom in spring everyday?"

Boyle buried his face into her warm nape and said, "Oh, my love, I'll do anything you want with you once you get better."

However, Cherie shook her head and spoke in a stern confident tone, "You can't have fun with me all the time, you know. You still have to work hard to make money for me."

Boyle's eyes trembled.

Cherie added, "You will be responsible for making a living while I take care of the fun."

Boyle hugged her with one arm while holding onto the back of her head with another. His heart felt full when he imagined their future together.

[I need to buy a few more extra pounds of meat to feed her. She's too weak.]

[I've promised to bring a certain someone to visit the theme park if she scores above 90 for her final year exam.]

[The shrimp Cherie made is enough to poison someone to death. However, I finished it all.]

[The person who wanted to watch a horror film was her and the person who ended up wailing and crying was also her.]

[Bought some milk and chips for the child.]

[The child has gained two pounds recently. I need to continue feeding her until she gains five pounds.]

It seemed the style of his status updates had changed and anyone who was completely oblivious about what was going on would think that his account was hacked.

Layla could no longer stand reading these status updates after that, so she decided to block Boyle.

It would be much better for her to not see it.

When her final exam was approaching, Cherie picked up a stray cat from the school's garden.

It took Boyle two days to find out about Cherie bringing a filthy little stray cat home.

Boyle was not a fan of pets since he was not exactly a caring person and taking care of her alone was enough for him. She was basically no different from a pet anyway since she had little to no ability to take care of herself and would often cause a mess at home. She would leave crumbs behind every time she ate chips. Not to mention, her clothes were all over the place at every corner.

Their home would be a living hell if they accepted another stray cat.

Boyle wanted to throw that little stray cat out. However, someone happened to be cradling the little cat and threw a fit by sitting at the entrance refusing to move an inch.

"If you don't want to keep it around, you can go ahead and kick me out too." A certain someone was staring at him with a very depressingly sad gaze.

Boyle rubbed his brows helplessly and gestured the adult and the little cat while saying, "Come back here."

The person who was sitting on the ground smiled immediately as she approached him with the cat. She said, "Let's give it a nice clean shower. You'd love it after it's clean. You'd feel surprised when you start taking care of a stray pet you picked up!"

Boyle was speechless as he wondered if it would feel the same as the girlfriend he picked up too.

The name Boyle gave the little stray cat was Boney because the cat was extremely skinny when they picked it up.

However, after Boyle took care of Boney for a period of time, it had become a lump of fat. By the time that happened, only its father was by its side. Its mother had gone missing.
