They arrived at North City airport in two hours as scheduled.
After collecting their luggages and just as Boyle and Cherie had arrived at the airport's exit, Cherie's phone rang.
The caller I.D. showed that it was from Tyler.
"Hey Jelly Bean, have you landed? Uncle Heaton and Aunty Verian ordered me to pick the little princess up. Which exit are you at?"
Cherie instinctively glanced at Boyle before saying, "Gate three. Coming out real soon now."
"Alright then. I'll wait for you there."
The instant they exited gate three, Cherie immediately noticed Tyler who was leaning against a blue Maserati. He looked like a complete showoff.
Cherie reached out to cover up her face as she wondered if that little brat could keep a low-profile.
Naturally, Tyler who was standing beside a sports car noticed Cherie as well. He waved at her through a street as he called out to her, "Over here, Jelly Bean!"
Cherie told Boyle, "That's my dumb friend. He knew I was coming back so my parents had him pick me up."
Boyle's expression looked cold as it was difficult to tell how he was feeling. He merely replied in a calm tone, "Since someone is here to pick you up, I won't be sending you home then."
However, Tyler was already running across the street toward them. The instant he noticed Cherie, he reached out to hug her immediately.
"Oh Jelly Bean, I missed you dearly. Give me a hug, would you."
Tyler gave her a bear hug and Cherie was unable to push him away. She said, "Let go of me, Tyler."
Boyle's gaze looked incredibly cold as he stood beside her.
It was only after Tyler released her and picked up her luggage did he realize someone else was with her.
"Jelly Bean, he is…"
Cherie frantically explained, "He's Boyle. My senior. He's in his final year of his research program."
Boyle's gaze grew colder after Cherie gave such a simple introduction about him.
Tyler reached out his hand and said, "Greetings, I'm Jelly Bean's fiance, Tyler."
Cherie was wide-eyed as she stared at him with disbelief while exclaiming, "What on Earth are you talking about, Tyler?"
"What? This happens to be the truth, okay."
Boyle had already picked up his backpack and left the airport while they bickered.
Cherie turned around and wanted to go after him. However, she was grabbed by Tyler before leading her to his car. He said, "Stop dawdling. Uncle Heaton and Aunty Verian are still waiting for us to return home for dinner."
While Cherie was being dragged by Tyler toward his car, she kept turning back to look at the distant Boyle.
Was he unhappy?
'Damn you and your big mouth, Tyler.'
He started the blue Maserati and sped away.
Cherie squeezed her brows while she sat in the passenger seat.
Tyler glanced at her while he drove. He asked, "What's the matter, princess? Why do you seem so unhappy coming back?"
"Why must you call me your fiance earlier?"
"What's wrong with that? Don't you want to marry me?" Tyler raised his brows and teased her.
However, he did not expect Cherie would snap at him, "Of course I don't want to! We're not even a couple. We're only best friends, okay."
Tyler was stunned but he chuckled after that as he said, "What are you getting so worked up for? Did you eat gunpowder?"
"Tyler!"
"Yeah? I'm here."
Due to how good of a mood he was in, Cherie was unable to vent her anger as she furiously leaned against her seat without saying anything else.
The car fell silent for a brief moment.
Tyler secretly glanced at her and could not help but say, "I was wrong earlier but I know for a fact that the man earlier had his eye on you. If I didn't say what I said, he wouldn't back down now, right?"
Cherie bit her lips while facing her back at him as she said, "My business is none of your concern."
Tyler backed down after noticing how furious she was. He said, "Fine, I won't argue with you right now."
The only thing was, Tyler was a little frustrated since even if they were best friends, this did not mean they could not be a couple, right?
The closest bond they shared was only limited to them being best friends. Could this possibly be the only setback from furthering their relationship into a couple?
Tyler scratched his head in frustration.
…
The blue Maserati drove into the Fudd family home's courtyard.
"What are you sorry for?"
"I shouldn't have thrown a fit to force you to return home with me."
After a really long while, Cherie received no reply from Boyle.
Cherie thought he was really mad and was very tempted to call him.
However before she could do that, Boyle replied, "I actually thought you'd be aware of what you're sorry for."
She could imagine his cold expression and him telling her that in a cold tone just by reading that alone.
Cherie replied with an adorable depressing emoji to him.
Boyle's menace subsided a little when he saw her depressing little crying emoji through his screen.
Just as Cherie was about to explain to Boyle that she was not Tyler's fiance, a door knock could be heard coming from outside of her door.
"Did you find your clothes after your shower, Jelly Bean? Do you want me to look for you?"
Verian's warm and gentle voice could be heard coming from outside.
Cherie frantically shoved her phone underneath her covers and climbed out of bed.
However, Verian had already entered as she said, "What are you up to? Do you want me to fill your bath for you?"
Cherie rushed over and hugged Verian's arm as she said, "Oh mom, you're the best."
Verian said with a funny look, "Oh, you're my daughter. Who else am I going to love if it's not you anyway."
After getting her pajamas, filling her bath, Cherie went ahead to soak in a comfortable bath.
Verian even added some essential oils and rose petals into her bath. Cherie fell asleep while she soaked in her bath.
While Verian was making her bed in her room, Cherie's phone rang underneath her covers.
Verian raised her brows and fished her phone out. The caller I.D. showed it was from, 'Husband Boyle.'
Husband Boyle…?
Verian frowned harder. She felt way too curious and worried so she picked up the call.
She wanted to know if that person was a man or a woman.
