It was in the garden of the Reed family’s mansion.
Paul was sipping on his tea while enjoying the scenery of the blooming flowers in his garden. His butler came up and reported to him, “Sir, Ms. Cindy is here.”
Cindy was wearing a black veil hat. The black veil hanging down her hat was covering her beautiful eyes and half of her face.
“Mr. Paul.”
“Take a seat.”
Cindy sat on a cane chair next to the table and said, “Ruby is here in Glacier City.”
Paul let out a faint laugh. He seemed to be plotting something. “Not only she’s here, but she even met Blade. A battle nearly broke out.”
A tinge of excitement flashed across Cindy’s eyes upon hearing that. Even if Master Blaine was biased toward Ruby, the leader would never like her.
“Mr. Paul, has our chance finally arrived?”
Paul turned around and looked at her with a meaningful look. He said, “It’s not our chance. It’s your chance that has presented itself.”
“You mean…”
Paul offered her some advice, “Blaine is still at the border. Even if he sent someone to keep an eye on Ruby in Glacier City, he is too far away to do anything. If you seize the opportunity and get rid of Ruby using Blade’s name…”
Paul looked like he wanted to kill someone.
Cindy’s eyes trembled. She did not like Ruby and she hated the fact that Ruby took Master Blaine away. She did think of ways to chase Ruby away but she never really thought of killing her.
She was somewhat worried about getting rid of Ruby.
“But what if Master Blaine comes back from the border and starts investigating this issue?”
If Master Blaine knew that she was the one who killed Ruby, will he not ever forgive her?
Cindy was not afraid of killing Ruby, but she did not want things to become awkward between them.
Paul squinted his pair of narrow eyes as he looked at her and said, “Do you think you still have a chance to be together with Blaine if you don’t kill that woman? As long as Ruby exists, you will never become Mrs. Glaceau.”
Cindy gently bit her lips.
Paul let out a cold hum, “If Blaine comes back from the border and decides to stay with Ruby, that means he will give up everything in R Country. By then, he will be enjoying his life with Ruby. He won’t care about you at all.”
Cindy’s heart trembled as her gaze started turning cold. She was hesitant at first but now she decided to stand firm.
“Does that mean I should blame Ruby’s death on the leader?”
“The leader currently doesn’t like his future daughter-in-law. He will ruin his son’s life by accepting her. If I was Blade, I would definitely kill Ruby and if Ruby is dead, Blade would be the number one suspect.”
Cindy was confused. It was true she could kill Ruby but how would that benefit Paul?
“Mr. Paul, I don’t get it. How does killing Ruby benefit you?”
Paul let out a faint laugh and said, “Don’t worry, I’m not trying to set you up. I can surely keep Blaine away with Ruby’s existence, but the one who really holds the power over Dark Organization is Blade. I want them to turn their backs on each other and kill each other.”
Cindy was stunned. The world of politics was indeed scary.
She did not want to hurt Blaine yet she could not simply let Blaine and Ruby get together, thus she had to do it.
It would never be too late to turn her back on Paul after she married Blaine in the future.
At present, she had to use Paul’s men to get rid of Ruby. If things go south, she could blame everything on his men to prove her innocence.
…
Ruby was on her way back to Kingswood Mansion when her phone rang. It was a call from Blaine.
Ruby asked, “Why did you call me all of a sudden?”
Blaine, who was on the other side of the phone, asked, “Where are you?”
Ruby looked outside the window. She did not plan to tell Blaine that she was in Glacier City as it would only worry him. Thus, she said, “I’m at Mount Hope Mansion.”
Blaine’s lips curled into a smile. “Thank you, for coming all the way to visit me last week. I’ll reward you this week when you come visit again.”
Ruby raised her brows and said, “How are you going to reward me?”
It felt odd.
She walked around the mall for over an hour yet she could not seem to find a perfect gift for Blaine.
In the end, a necktie in a high-end men’s store caught her eye.
She thought Blaine would look good in that necktie.
Ruby entered the shop. Right when she walked up to the mannequin, a man took the necktie away ahead of her. He walked straight up to the cashier and was ready to pay for the necktie.
Ruby followed after him and said to the assistant, “Can you get me the same necktie?”
The assistant said politely, “I’m sorry, miss. We only have one stock for every product in our shop. Including our clothes, we only have one stock for each size.”
“I see…”
She finally found a gift she thought that was perfect for Blaine yet someone was one step ahead of her.
Ruby turned around and said to the man who was about to pay for the necktie, “Hello, can you give me this tie?”
The man was stunned. He turned around to look at her.
Ruby thought he did not want to give her the tie, so, she said, “I’ll pay you 10 times the original price of this tie.”
The man let out a faint laugh upon hearing what she said. He found it amusing as he said, “Miss, you shouldn’t spend your money like that even if you’re rich.”
Ruby frowned and explained, “I like the tie a lot, that’s all.”
The man lowered his head to look at the tie in his hands. His lips curled into a smile as he said, “A gentleman doesn't seize things which another treasures. Since you like this tie so much, I’ll give it to you.”
“Thank you.”
…
A gaze was fixated on her back as she left the store with the bag in her hand after paying.
