Paul was calm when he raised his head to look at the menacing man in front of him. He asked with a calm smile, “What’s the meaning of this, Blaine?”
However, Blaine was in no mood to beat around the bush with him as he questioned Paul with an extremely sharp glare, “Where exactly is my woman? I'm not in the mood for your games, Paul.”
Paul continued to stall as he said, “Blaine, I truly have no idea who you’re referring to and besides, what reason do I have to kidnap your woman?”
“So Mr. President, you’re really unwilling to hand over my woman, right? I’m not sure if you’re aware of this or not, but Princess Holly just so happens to be on a vacation in North Bayou Island which I own. Mr. President, you are also aware of how normal it is for a tidal wave to hit the island and potentially endangering the princess’ life at any given moment, right?”
Paul was stunned as rage boiled in his eyes. He said, “Blaine, I actually thought you were a man of honor. I never expected you to stoop so low!”
Blaine scoffed coldly and spoke in a bone-chilling voice, “Mr. President, you kidnapped someone who belongs to me in my house during my absence. So, Mr. President, you’re not so different from me. Since we’re both dishonorable men, I believe we should stop beating around the bush now.”
“What have you done to Holly?”
“What can I do to Princess Holly anyway? All I did was invite her over to my island for a vacation. However, I too want to ask you, what have you done to Softie?”
“She’s fine. Why don’t you send Holly back to me first!”
Blaine’s gaze was extremely cold and serious as he said, “You best hope that she’s actually fine.”
…
In the dungeon.
Ruby was completely unconscious from being whipped. Her face was slumped over while she was suspended with both arms bound. She seemed completely devoid of life.
The guard threw the whip away as he asked his cohort, “She wouldn’t be dead now, right?”
“The secretary ordered for her to be beaten an inch away from death but not to kill her because if she actually died, how else is she going to talk?”
Both guards panicked and immediately went over to examine if Ruby was still alive.
One of the guards went ahead to check on Ruby’s breath with his finger. It felt weak. He then exclaimed, “She’s still alive!”
“Splash a bucket of cold water on her to wake her up! If she’s actually dead, we won’t be able to bear the weight of this crime!”
As the guard rushed over with a bucket of cold water and was just about to splash it on Ruby, a cold, menacing, and manly voice could be heard from behind!
“What are you guys doing!”
Both guards were slightly stunned as they frantically turned around. The instant they turned around, they dropped the bucket of cold water, splashing it all over the ground. The guards gasped and immediately knelt to the ground.
“Blaine! Master Blaine!”
The seemingly unconscious Ruby felt like she had heard someone mentioning Blaine’s name as her weakened eyelids twitched. She mustered every ounce of strength her body still had to open her eyes and when she looked up, it triggered a sharp pain from all her limbs. However, she could see her savior as a dim glimmer flickered within her lifeless eyes.
Blaine was standing by the stairs with his back faced toward the light. Although she was unable to get a good look at his face, she could make out the blurry silhouette of his tall and fit body.
Blaine had finally come to rescue her.
Ruby cracked a bloody smile. Although her wounds were painful, it did not bother her when she felt so hopeful in the moment.
Blaine stood still by the stairs for a really long time. It was not because he did not feel the situation’s urgency or was not worried. Instead, it was because the first thing he saw upon entering the dungeon was the completely bloodied woman. The white shirt she wore was torn and frayed, while her body a bloodied mess. She resembled a prisoner that had endured excruciating torture.
Although Blaine had seen countless corpses, he had never seen an injury so grotesque before. Blaine was actually not brave enough to take another step forward in the moment.
He would never let those who harmed her walk free. He would repay these people with a hundred to a thousand times more harm than the pain they caused her.
The truth was that this was not her most painful moment from the injuries she sustained because her wounds had already scabbed over. Although they still hurt, she was already numb to the pain. However, warm tears began flowing out from the dry corners of Ruby’s eyes when she was being shielded so well in Blaine’s embrace.
She did not want to cry, so she closed her eyes and curled up in Blaine’s arms as she spoke in a soft tone, “I feel like sleeping, Blaine.”
“Go ahead then.”
Blaine strode out of the dungeon while carrying the woman in his arms.
…
Upon returning to the Kingswood mansion.
The doctors were already on standby. Those doctors were all members of the Dark Organization. These people were not regular people hired from regular hospitals.
Ruby was already unconscious when two female doctors entered the room to help her clean up the bloodstains and treat the wounds on her body. She was then changed into a soft set of flowy pajamas.
After that, the doctors went to prepare some medicine for her in order to administer Ruby with some anti-inflammatory medicine and nutrients.
The entire process took two hours to complete.
After the main doctor, Nine, exited the room, he noticed Blaine smoking in the second floor’s hallway.
Blaine extinguished the cigarette when he noticed Nine. He was staring at the room with a concerned look as he asked, “How is she?”
Nine replied honestly, “Although her injuries seem serious, they were all flesh wounds. Just make sure they don’t come in contact with water for now. Also, make sure she has enough rest. She should be fine if her wounds aren’t infected. The only thing is…”
