Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 702

Blaine was working in his study while Ruby was doing nothing and was all by herself downstairs after dinner.

A guest dropped by the Kingswood Mansion. Although in a more serious way, this person could not be considered as a guest since the person was none other than… Dark Shadow of the Dark Organization. An underling to Blaine.

Based on what Ruby had heard about Dark Shadow, both him and his brother, Shadow were Blaine’s most capable underlings.

Dark Shadow entered the courtyard with a huge German Shepherd that was half the height of an average person. That German Shepherd was twitching its head and body and it seemed like it was about to attack at any random moment.

Dark Shadow frowned slightly after spotting Ruby when he entered the house. However, Ruby was staring at him with a pretty laid back gaze, so he assumed that he might have recognized the wrong person. After greeting her with a simple nod, he silently walked upstairs to the study with the German Shepherd.

Ruby let out a huge sigh of relief after Dark Shadow entered the study. Fortunately for her, Dark Shadow did not recognize her.

She had faced Dark Shadow once previously at Easthill Valley. That happened during her early missions with Wilson. However, it was a really dark night and she was unsure if Dark Shadow had seen her face or not.

That was the only time she was exposed.

Somehow, Ruby felt slightly nervous when she looked at the tightly shut door of the study on the second floor.

When that huge German Shepherd noticed it’s master in the study, it excitedly rushed over to Blaine while wagging its tail as it placed its front paws on Blaine’s lap. It seemed like it was looking for his affection.

“Bark, bark, bark…”

Blaine patted it’s head with a slight frown as he said, “How did you get so fat?”

Dark Shadow rubbed his nose before letting out a slight cough as he said, “It’s because of my excellent care, director.”

Blaine rolled his eyes at him as he said, “It won’t be able to hunt or move well if it’s too fat.”

Dark Shadow was speechless.

‘Really now! You just prefer slender looking things, dear director!’

Blaine pulled it’s paws away and flung them on the ground. That German Shepherd seemed to have taken the hint and stopped clinging onto it’s master as it lazily leaned against it’s master’s chair. That alone was satisfying enough for it.

Blaine took a glance at Dark Shadow and noticed he did not leave after bringing the dog over to him. Thus, he asked, “What’s the matter? Is there something you need?”

Dark Shadow stuttered, “Director, there’s a beautiful lady downstairs. Who… is she?”

Suddenly, Blaine paused as he grabbed his steel pen before loudly closing his documents folder. A cold sharp glint could be seen from his eyes as he said, “Mine.”

Dark Shadow was speechless.

What was going on with the director’s menacing gaze? It was not like he had feelings for that woman anyway!

“You’re interested in her?”

Blaine’s gaze grew even more menacing the instant he said that as Dark Shadow immediately said, “But, since she’s your girlfriend, master, I must’ve mistaken her for someone else. Besides, I don’t even remember that female assassin’s appearance anymore. All I think is that the woman looks beautiful but you know me, master. I’m blind to women and even if they looked pretty, they would seem average looking to me.”

Dark Shadow ran into Ruby again after he got out of the study.

Dark Shadow should not greet Ruby but he felt the need to be cautious so he asked, “My master told me that you’re his new girlfriend?”

Ruby was stunned as she did not expect Blaine would actually be so blunt to his underlings.

Dark Shadow asked further, “How should I address you then?”

“Just call me Softie.”

“Oh, Miss Softie. I’m not sure why you just seem so familiar to me. Have you ever been to Easthill Valley, Miss Softie?”

Ruby heart skipped a beat but she remained calm as she stared directly at Dark Shadow and replied in a very impatient tone, “Are you here to flirt with your master’s woman?”

Dark Shadow was speechless.

What a ferocious lady indeed! That was why his master would be attracted to her since her temperament resembled his master’s. She was someone not to be trifled with indeed.

Dark Shadow replied with a smile, “You’ve misunderstood me, Miss Softie. I wouldn’t dare. You know, I ran into a woman who resembled your appearance back at Easthill Valley, Miss Softie but I must’ve mistaken you for someone else since our master’s judgement won’t be wrong.”
