Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 699

Blaine’s gaze was aloof yet smoldering like a fire built in a pile of snow. Ruby was still inexperienced after all. She could not grasp what he had in mind.

Was he suspecting her motives? But why did he kiss her then?

Blaine lifted his hand and put it behind her back. He touched the trigger situated behind her back and immediately, a sharp dagger flew right past them and landed on the wall beside them. Due to the sudden attack, Blaine could clearly feel that the woman in his embrace was quivering in fear.

He lowered his gaze and looked at her long, thick eyelashes which were fluttering due to fear. He swallowed his saliva and his Adam’s apple bobbed in his throat. In a deep, hoarse voice, he ordered, “There’re traps planted everywhere in this study room and you might lose your life at any time. If I didn’t come home in time, I’d probably see a cold corpse lying on the floor by now.”

Ruby grunted internally, ‘If you didn’t come home, I’d probably clear the mess up and exit this room safe and sound...’

However, she had to pretend to be an obedient kitten to avoid suspicion. “I… I will never enter here anymore.”

“Do you know that you did wrong?”

The girl was sandwiched in between the bookshelf and the man’s lofty figure. She could smell Blaine’s refreshing aquatic cologne around his body. The scent of the cologne was crisp and pleasant. It would calm those smelling such a fragrance.

His voice was deeper and gentler than usual. As she subconsciously lifted her gaze, her eyes met his and her heart throbbed even faster than before.

She had never been so intimate with someone, not even Wilson, the man she was closest to. Not to mention, she just had her first kiss.

As Ruby remained silent, Blaine frowned slightly and was a little impatient. “Do you know that you are wrong, huh?”

His tone was full of fondness and care toward her.

The girl nodded her head vigorously and said, “Master Blaine, I’m sorry for making such a mistake.”

Blane’s face darkened and warned her, “If you repeat this mistake next time, I will kiss you like how I did just now and might even do something even worse. So, you better don’t cross the line.”

Ruby quickly stuck out her three fingers and swore, “I promise, I will never enter your study room anymore!”

As she lifted her right arm to swear, Blaine noticed a cut on her skin. Her fair skin was grazed due to the sharp arrow and blood could be seen trickling down her wound.

The man gripped her right wrist abruptly and hauled her toward him.

Ruby thought Blaine wanted to take advantage of her again and subconsciously, she covered her lips with her left hand and reminded him in a muffled voice, “Master Blaine, you can’t kiss me anymore! I know I’m at fault!”

Blaine stared at her frightened look and a faint smile appeared on his face. “It’s good that you’re afraid of me.”

The man held her arm and briefly checked on her wound. “Your injury is quite serious. It needs to be treated.”

Only then, Ruby realized she was hurt on her right arm. The situation was tense and she was too nervous just now. She did not even feel the pain from the arrow cut on her arm.

Both of them went downstairs and headed toward the living room. Blaine then asked Butler William to pass him the first-aid kit.

He took out a blue-white porcelain bottle from the first-aid box and covered her wound with powdered medication. She could feel a cool, prickling sensation immediately and she creased her brows slightly due to the pain.

As Blaine was applying the medication on her wound, her subtle change in facial expression caught his attention. “Does it hurt?”

“A little.”

Ruby pouted and said, “I’m not a cat anyway.”

Blaine raised his brows as he looked at her arrogant look. Was this the attitude of a girl staying under someone’s roof that she should have?

Having said that, she was right. She was indeed not a cat.

“Yeah, you’re a little fox.”

Ruby was at loss for words.

Was he trying to imply that she was a cunning person?

As she was trying to decipher his words, Blaine had left the couch and was heading upstairs. Without turning his head toward her, he said, “Remember to knock before entering my study room.”

Ruby was confused and wondered to herself, ‘He didn’t suspect me and instead, he allowed me to enter his study room? Isn’t he afraid that I might steal his private and confidential documents?’

However, as she was now in his territory, it would probably be impossible to get away from him even if she managed to steal any documents.

Feeling bored, she lied on the couch and deliberated on the Light Organization’s intention in appointing her to be a spy. The words of her leader, Stephen Mountain were still ringing in her mind. He needed Blaine to fall in love with her so that she had the chance to find out and take advantage of all his weaknesses.

She looked at the bandage on her right arm. The dressing was neat and tidy and he finished it off with a bow knot.

She did not expect that a manly person like him had a feminine side as well.
