Lucy felt her throat aching. She could not make any sound.
She could only hear Yanni saying, “I hope you’ll live a happy life but at the same time, I don’t want you to be happy.”
Lucy stared at him with red eyes and said, “Why?”
“This is because if you’re happy, doesn’t that mean you won’t mind leaving me? Thus, I want to see you live a miserable life. I want you to cry everyday after leaving me.”
Lucy could not help laughing upon hearing that. “What kind of strange mentality is that? I would go blind if I cried everyday.”
Yanni stopped in his tracks and lowered his eyes to stare at her. He said in a solemn tone, “At the same time, I don’t want you to cry. I don’t want to see you cry even if it’s because of me.”
Lucy’s eyes trembled as tears started flowing down her cheeks. She lifted her head and pressed a kiss onto Yanni’s thin lips.
Dan sensibly turned away.
…
They arrived at the foot of the mountain.
The rescue team saw Yanni walking down while carrying Lucy.
They were stunned. Frowning, they asked Lucy, “What’s wrong with you? Didn’t we ask you to wait at the foot of the mountain? Why did you go into the mountains without permission?”
Lucy was about to answer when Yanni cut her off and said coldly to the guy from the rescue team, “Why are you so fierce? Can’t you talk nicely?”
The man was speechless.
Yanni carried Lucy into the car and ordered Dan to increase the air-con temperature.
Both of them were drenched wet.
Lucy said, "Since the mudslide stopped, I think the school is safe for now. I'll bring you to my dorm to take a warm bath and change into some dry clothes."
They would fall sick if they don't change into something warm.
Yanni turned around and looked at her with bright eyes, "Aren't you afraid that the Burks guy would get the wrong idea?"
Lucy said, "Since when are you afraid that River would get the wrong idea about us?"
A faint smile spread across the man's face. "Of course I'm not afraid that he'll misunderstand. The more he gets the wrong idea about us, the better."
She knew it.
Lucy's lips twitched as she mumbled, "It's true that we're together. There's nothing much to explain to him."
It was as though she was talking to herself but Yanni heard everything and he thought it was pleasant.
The man embraced Lucy and ordered Dan, "Drive us to the school."
Lucy did not bother to struggle. She was exhausted after escaping the disaster.
...
They arrived at the school and Lucy brought Dan to a vacant room.
Yanni sneaked into her dorm.
He stared at her while he followed her from behind.
Lucy was slightly taken aback when she turned around to look at him.
She asked, "Why are you looking at me like that?"
The man said coldly, "You said that the Burks guy will not misunderstand. Why do we have to sneak in like that? Are you ashamed of me?"
Lucy was speechless.
She snorted and ignored what he said. She went into the bathroom to prepare some warm water for him. "Stop calling him the Burks guy. He has a name. He's called River. Pay some respect to him."
Yanni simply snorted and started acting up, " I want to call him the Burks guy. What can you do about it? He..."
Yanni wanted to say, 'He doesn't even care about your life. Why are you still defending him?'
On second thought, he thought he would appear too narrow-minded. Although he might be unscrupulous in the business industry, he still had conscience.
Lucy shook her head after hearing the man's magnetic voice.
Yanni lowered his head and snuggled into her neck. He sniffed her neck and kissed her as he said, "Lulu."
"Mm?"
Yanni asked, "The rescue team saved you this morning. Why did you go all the way up to the mountain again?"
Lucy told him truthfully, “I was scared I will never see you again. Moreover, you went up the mountains for me. If anything bad happens to you, I will not live in peace for the rest of my life. It would only put my mind at ease if I find you."
Yanni was very happy that Lucy cared about him.
"There's no next time. You're not allowed to do that anymore."
Lucy turned around to look at the man behind her. "But you like it whenever I find you."
"I like it because it shows that you care about my life, but I don't want you to put yourself in such a dangerous situation."
Lucy hugged him. She was very excited when he told her that he loved her in the mountains.
Yanni wrapped his arms around his precious little girl. He paused for a moment and a dark gaze flashed across his eyes when his hands touched her waist.
The man slightly pulled her away and asked, "Lulu, can you promise me something?"
"What is it?"
"I know you love kids, but can we abort this baby in your tummy?"
He could not bear to see his woman carrying another man's child.
Lucy frowned and said, "What do you mean?"
"Lulu, I know it's hard for you, but I swear we can get another baby after you abort this baby and your body recovers. Lulu, abort this baby and let's start all over again. I won't care about what you and River did. As long as you come back to me, abort his child and stop thinking about him... "
Slap!
Lucy slapped him across the face before he could even finish his sentence.
