Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 631

Serene looked up after she realized what was going on. She noticed a few men were facing their backs at them. They were whispering among themselves and even laughing!

Serene instinctively looked down at what she was wearing…before immediately covering her face and bolting straight back to her room.

‘Ah! How embarrassing!’ Serene thought to herself.

Wilson held onto his forehead as he stared at that small figure. He then looked up toward his underlings and ordered in a cold tone, “Head out downstairs and give me ten laps right now! You’re not allowed to return if you guys are short even by a single lap.”

“Yes, sir!”

After he gave that order, Wilson brought some breakfast into the room.

Serene had already buried herself completely underneath the covers while clenching her fists, cringing in absolute embarrassment.

Wilson placed the breakfast down on a round wooden table and walked over to the bed, reaching out to pull Serene into his arms.

“I thought you said you were hungry? I brought you your food.”

Serene glared at him as she spoke with a flustered look, “Why did you have your work meetings at home? I didn’t even know we had guests over. I’ve completely embarrassed myself because of wandering out there dressed like this.”

Wilson gave her a funny look and said, “Why don’t I gouge their eyes out then?”

“That would be too much.”

Serene mumbled before crawling her way out of bed and sitting by the round table. She picked up her glass and took a huge gulp of water before eating her breakfast.

Serene heard jogging noises coming from outside. She was wide-eyed as she asked, “What on Earth are they doing?”

“I made them run laps.”

Serene was speechless.

Wilson picked up a soft scarf and draped it over Serene’s shoulders. “Although it’s not cold in here, you’ll catch a cold if you dress like this.”

Serene was drinking some herbal soup from an intricately-made porcelain bowl.

Wilson asked, “So how does today’s chicken soup taste?”

“It tastes good but no one will be making soup for me anymore when you get deployed over to the borders in a few days.”

Serene spoke in a depressing tone, “If I have to live alone in this massive house, I’ll feel very lonely.”

The woman reached out to hug his waist after she said that.

Wilson reached out to pat her little head as he said, “I’ll be home real soon.”

Serene looked up with her little face and asked, “Were you discussing when you’d be going to the borders at the meeting earlier?”

“Yeah.”

“Then which day have you guys decided on?”

“I still have to head over to meet the president to finalize some details at noon today.”

“Can you really resign when you return? Will the president of Z Country refuse to let you resign?”

Wilson replied with a calm smile as he stared at the woman’s innocent eyes, “You know, every single president wanted to strip all power from the Light Organization’s previous directors before this. Now that I’m handing it over willingly, he has no reason to refuse.”

Serene cracked a wide smile, revealing her row of pearly white teeth. She was beaming with joy as she said, “That’s great. That means we’d be able to start our pickled vegetables and fish store soon when we return.”

Wilson hugged her and said, “When we return, you can do whatever you want. I’ll do anything with you.”

Serene jokingly asked, “Then will you keep me company if I commit murder or arson?”

Wilson kissed her forehead and said, “I’ll hand you the knife and light the fuse. So, what do you think?”

Serene was nuzzling up against his nape like a little kitten as she said, “You’re amazing, Wilson.”

Wilson returned from the meeting at noon with a serious look on his face.

Serene rushed over and asked him frantically, “When does the president want you to depart, Wilson?”

“Tomorrow.”

“I’m not making you join me in the war and I’m not planning to send you to the borders. However, I need to ask you for a favor.”

“Hold on for a second, Wilson Jarret. So, you’re acting so nice to me when you need something from me. You come to me only when you need something. Who do you think I am to you?”

Wilson replied, “I’m not nice to you anyway.”

Ruby was about to cough up blood from being so agitated by him…

“Fine, you’re a real bastard, you know. So, what do you want? I’ll decide if I want to agree to you or not depending on my mood.”

Wilson took a glance at the woman who was busy playing with her phone in the room. He said, “I’m not sure when I’ll be returning during my stay at the borders and Serene knows no one from Z Country. No one will be there to keep her safe when I leave so that’s why I want you to help me take care of her.”

Ruby felt that this had absolutely nothing to do with her, so she replied, “...You should just hire a bodyguard for her. I’m not in the mood to do that for you.”

“Ruby, I’ve never begged you for anything before so please help me with this one favor.”

Ruby was slightly stunned since Wilson actually had never begged her or anyone for anything before in all these years. He actually humbled himself for Serene’s sake now?

Wilson continued, “Ruby, I trust you the most and can only relax and not worry by leaving Serene with you.”

“Please don’t. I’d be stressed out if you leave your beloved Serene with me. If anything were to happen to Serene, where can I escape to when you come for me?’

Wilson immediately responded, “Come on now. You have the Frost Blade in your hands and yet you’re still afraid of me?”

Ruby scoffed and said, “I’m not afraid of you even without Frost Blade, alright!”

Although she knew he was provoking her intentionally, it was quite effective.

“It’s decided then. I’ll leave when you arrive tomorrow morning.”

Ruby asked, “But will Serene be cooking my meals or will I be cooking for her when I arrive?”

“You know Serene has suffered from a miscarriage recently so could you bite the bullet for now and cook for her?”

“Oh, f*ck you, Wilson! Just you wait, I’ll order take out every day and ruin your beloved’s health!”

Wilson was speechless.
