Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 626

When Verian woke up from her dazed state, she grabbed her phone and realized it was already around one to two in the afternoon.

Her belly was rumbling.

She noticed Heaton was already making a meal in the kitchen when she woke up. She rushed over to hug the man’s waist from behind before peeking her head over to look at what he was cooking.

“What are you making?”

“I’m frying rice.”

“Little brother, are you making us lunch or dinner at this moment?”

Heaton raised his brows when he heard Verian calling him ‘little brother’ and responded, “Have you developed a habit of calling me that?”

“Why aren’t you happy at me making you sound younger?”

Heaton glared at her in a very menacing way. “What did you say?”

Verian wanted to live, so she explained, “I called you ‘little brother’ because you’re young.”

“Let’s just eat some fried rice for lunch later. We’ll head over to the old house to pick up our kids and just have dinner at my dad’s place.”

“That’s fine since Little Jelly Bean hasn’t seen you in a really long time now. She must’ve missed you.”

“Oh, please. That little brat is spoiled. How could she miss me when she wouldn’t even pick up my calls.”

Verian laughed when she saw the man’s frustrated look. “Well, who told you not to be home for such a long time? Since you won’t allow me to go home late, shouldn’t I request something from you as well? Can you not go on such a long business trip next time?”

After thinking about it for a few seconds, Heaton agreed and said, “I think that suggestion isn’t bad at all.”

While they were eating, Verian grabbed her phone and randomly scrolled through Weibo. She noticed a viral search…

[The Public Goddess is talking smack about a Tomorrow’s Star’s contestant behind her back.]

Verian was stunned for a moment before clicking it.

It was uncertain who recorded the video of her and Joy at the bar last night. Although the lighting in the bar was extremely dim, it could still be clearly seen that it was her and Joy.

The video’s audio sounded significantly clearer. Her conversation with Joy could clearly be heard when she played the video.

Verian vaguely remembered when she was singing that night, Joy jokingly told her that plenty of contestants honestly sounded quite horrible at the Tomorrow’s Star’s live recordings. Joy even told her that there were plenty of artists in her industry who lip-synced to their songs.

This was a major issue as the video went viral and Joy had basically started a feud with a whole bunch of people. Not only was she going to agitate the artists from her industry, she was also picking a fight with the sponsors and teams who supported the people she had explicitly mentioned.

The comments in the post were extremely heated since there were plenty of fans who rushed to defend their favorite artists. Some of them even insulted Joy.

[Since you hate the show so much, don’t participate then. Oh please, you insult the show and yet you’re still on it for the money. How pathetic.]

[Yeah, the most disgusting behavior is trying to act all high and mighty when she’s a total b*tch! How disgusting.]

[So, is the Public Goddess finally showing her true colors? She’s actually capable of looking like a complete mess in a bar like this!]

[Hehehe, she commented on how bad other people sound when singing but she isn’t any better herself, right? She’s basically a pot calling the kettle black! Scoffs.]

[Was a fan but not anymore. Well, I used to think she looked pretty back then and her acting skills were alright. However, it seems like she’s not polite at all for talking behind someone else’s back!]

[I heard Joy is a mistress to some high profile boss. Interesting.]

Verian spent a long time reading these comments and although there were also plenty of fans who were defending Joy’s actions, it did nothing to stop people from fanning the flames of this drama due to how famous Joy was and how viral this post had gotten. This resulted in Joy’s low-profile and well-mannered image to become completely tarnished in an instant.

Especially when Joy had crossed so many people at the same time. Now it seemed that every single celebrity who was targeted by her had sent their fans to personally attack Joy in retaliation.

Heaton noticed how focused Verian was at reading that Weibo post and had not even touched her food. He frowned slightly, picked up his chopsticks, and gently tapped Verian’s bowl before saying, “You’re not allowed to look at your phone while having a meal.”

Heaton immediately frowned.

Verian then stuttered as she continued, “I actually didn’t expect they’d do anything this horrible. Anything will go viral these days it seems but the thing is, the topic that went viral is quite hilarious and low.”

“What did they write about you that went viral?”

“I-I got drunk last night so Joy and I crossed arms and drank like that… Now it seems the media has uploaded the entire video. They even called us queer.”

Since Heaton was unfamiliar with any modern slang, he asked her, “Queer?”

Verian explained, “Queer means… Well, it means that we’re lesbians.”

Heaton’s expression dimmed as he frowned harder.

It seemed if he did not intervene, this entire ordeal would go completely out of hand.

Judging from the speed of how fast news like this went viral, the uploader’s motives were obvious. They were trying to completely ruin Joy’s career forever.

Verian gave Joy a call to comfort her.

They dropped this issue temporarily when they arrived at the old house and met their children.

Little Jelly Bean had not seen Heaton for a really long time now so when she saw him, the little rascal actually felt furious. She did not rush over to Heaton when he arrived. Instead, she was playing with her toys and busy kneading playdough. She ignored Heaton intentionally.

Verian hinted this to Heaton by saying, “Hurry up and cheer your daughter up since she must be angry at you now.”

Heaton approached her and stared at Little Jelly Bean while she sliced up some playdough. He said, “Jelly Bean, why didn’t you greet me?”

“Hmph, all you know is work, daddy. I’m not even important to you anyway. I’m quite happy living with grandpa and don’t want to go home with you, daddy.”

“Really now? Monty and I were just planning to bring you and your brother home today. Do you really want to stay with your grandpa?”
