"Blaine, I'm serious. If Serene dies, no good will come to you as well!"
Blaine raised his eyebrows. "What's Serene's death got to do with me?"
Ruby continued to say, "If Serene were to die, then Wilson won't lead the Light Organization. Who's going to sign the hundred-year treaty between Z and R country then?”
Blaine scratched his chin and pretended to agree with her. "It seems like you might have a point."
Ruby thought that Blaine believed her nonsense. "Yeah, so, if you let Serene have the Hundred Spirit Herb, and if she wakes up, Wilson will definitely thank you. This is a huge gain for you; you don't stand to lose out on anything."
Blaine looked at her coldly. "But I don't want to save White Wolf's woman."
"Blaine, come on, we've known each other for a while now; I'm sure we're considered friends. How could you not save her?"
"Friends? Since when were we friends? Also, weren't you the one who said that our partnership had been temporarily terminated? You were the one who chased us away too."
Old K nodded furiously. "Yes, Miss Luna. When you needed help, you rushed to our leader, but once you're done with us, you barely bat an eye. And you still expect our leader to give you the Hundred Spirit Herb? Even I would be unhappy for him."
"You heard him. Even he feels that this is unfair."
Ruby bit her lip. "What do you mean unfair? You just think that the price I offered was too low."
Blaine smirked. "Unless you have more to offer?"
Ruby cleared her throat as she looked at Old K and said, "Tell Old K to leave, and I'll talk to you privately."
Talk to him privately. Blaine stared at Ruby with a hint of a smile on his face. Her words pleased him.
"Old K, wait outside," Blaine barked an order.
Old K was worried. After all, Black Rose was a cunning and wily woman. He did not know what she would do to his leader. "Leader, please be careful."
When Old K left, Blaine sat on the sofa and said, "Go on, then."
Ruby took a deep breath. "I promised to accompany you for 100 days. If you give us the Hundred Spirit Herb to save Serene, I'll be with you for another 120 days. How about that?"
Blaine must have loved her body and looks; it did not matter if it was 100 or another 20 days.
Even though Ruby thought that it would work, Blaine just stared at her. Her ears started to blush.
Blaine jeered at her. "You're willing to give up your dignity for White Wolf?"
Ruby was a proud woman, but she had offered herself for another man's woman.
Blaine got angry at the thought of that.
Ruby frowned. "I thought you wanted me to offer such conditions. Why are you acting like a gentleman and a prude?"
Blaine stood up and walked past her stiffly. "Don't think so highly of yourself. Even if you offered a few hundred days, it is not enough for a Hundred Spirit Herb. A mere 120 days, do you think so highly of yourself?"
Ruby felt insulted by that. She clenched her fist and yelled, "Blaine Glaceau, don't cross the line!"
Blaine walked to the entrance of the mansion and sneered, "Let me be clear; you have something that you want from me, and not the other way around."
"What would it take for you to give me the Hundred Spirit Herb?"
Blaine thought about it and said, "If White Wolf wants to save his woman, he should talk to me personally. You have no say in this."
"Blaine Glaceau!"
Blaine had already left the mansion. Ruby cursed at them, and then she called Wilson.
Not long after that, Wilson's phone rang again. It was Ruby.
"C country has a medicine called the Hundred Spirit Herb; it is an antidote to all poisons. There is only one in the entire country, and it's with Blaine Glaceau."
Wilson's eyes glimmered with hope; his heart started to beat faster.
After he hung up the call with Ruby, he called Blaine immediately. They met up half an hour later.
"What do you want in exchange?" Wilson asked directly.
Blaine did not bother to beat around the bush as well. "Remove Black Rose from the Light Organization."
Wilson initially thought that Blaine would request for resources or things related to Z country and C country. He did not expect that Blaine would ask for that.
"Stephen Mountain already removed Black Rose from the list. Now that I'm the acting leader, I have not reinstated her, either."
"Then don't. Ever. I want her."
Blaine saw Wilson's frown, so he asked, "Why? Do you not agree with the terms?"
Wilson said, "No. Sure, let's swap the antidote for her. Treat Ruby nicely."
Blaine was dumbstruck.
Ruby was loyal to that man, and yet he sold her out for the woman he loved.
Why was the woman still so silly?
At Mount Hope Mansion, Ruby sneezed a few times. "Who's cursing me?"
