Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 568

They were done with their game and business talks. Jinn had a run of bad luck with the cards that night; he had burned through most of his cash. He and Xander were still single, and they could not stand it when Heaton and Wilson flaunted their love. So, the two of them decided to leave earlier.

Little Jelly Bean saw a rainbow cake from another table as they exited the Supreme Restaurant. Since his daughter wanted to have some dessert, he suggested they go for an afternoon tea before they headed home.

Heaton ordered a whole table of desserts that the girls loved. It was all on Jinn, anyway.

Verian said teasingly, "Jinn really picked the wrong friends."

Heaton raised his eyebrows. "He's the owner of this restaurant; just make yourself at home."

Little Jelly Bean dug into her strawberry ice cream. Her lips were smudged when she said, "Daddy, since we earned so much money today, can you bring me to the amusement park and buy me fried chicken this weekend?"

Heaton stared at his daughter, dotingly.

Serene looked at Little Jelly Bean and pinched her little face. "You're so adorable."

Little Jelly Bean frowned and said in a serious face, "Auntie Serene, you can also give birth to an adorable baby like me."

Serene immediately blushed.

Verian looked at her daughter and said, "Jelly Bean, what are you talking about?"

"Auntie Serene is pretty, and Uncle Wilson is handsome. My teacher said that if the parents are good looking, their baby will be good looking as well."

Even Wilson felt embarrassed. He coughed into his fist, but he was in a good mood. "You're right, Jelly Bean. Auntie Serene and I will work harder on it."

Little Jelly Bean held her fist up and made a good luck gesture. She said in a naïve tone, "Good luck, Uncle Wilson!"

Heaton rubbed his daughter's head. "You're a little kid, but you surely know a lot, don't you?"

Little Jelly Bean rolled her eyes at him and said proudly, "I'm not a little kid."

Verian wiped the ice cream stains on the corner of the little munchkin's lips. "Sure, sure, you're not a little kid; you're a cutie pie."

They went their separate ways after the afternoon tea.

Wilson hugged Serene from behind as soon as they arrived home.

Serene blushed. "What are you doing?"

"Do you like kids?"

Serene smiled at the mention of kids. She said, "If kids are as adorable and as smart as Little Jelly Bean, of course, I like them."

Wilson's eyes darkened. "But we only started spending some quality time together. If we were to have a baby now…"

Serene turned around and cut him off before he could finish his sentence. She waved frantically. "Wilson Jarret! What are you thinking? We're not married yet; how can we have a baby so soon?"

Wilson stared at her; he hesitated before he asked, "Is that really what you think?"

Was that an excuse because he refused to have a baby?

Serene nodded her head, solemnly. "Furthermore, I don't want to have kids now. Didn't you say that I'm still young? Let's wait for a few more years until we've settled down."

"Alright."

He thought she would misunderstand him and throw a tantrum after she heard that he did not want kids. He never imagined that she would accept it so calmly.

Wilson had a weird feeling, but he was not sure why he would feel that way.

They were at the mansion near Shallow Bay.

Verian put the two kids to bed after dinner and walked to the study room.

"When are you coming to bed?"

Heaton closed the file in his hands and looked at the woman walking toward him. "Why are you asking? Are you going to put me to bed?"

Verian thumped her fist lightly against his shoulder. "What are you talking about?"

Heaton grabbed her hands and pulled her onto his lap.

When he saw that she was shy and panicky, Heaton's lips curled upward. "We're already an old married couple, and yet she's still so shy."

Heaton made a phone call.

"Hello, Kush. Do you have any news regarding the workshop that I've asked you to check out earlier?"

"Yes. There are a few nice ones, but I think you would want to check them out yourself first."

Heaton nodded. "Alright, let's get this settled tomorrow."

Mrs. Fudd wanted to go to work, but she refused to work with him. Most of the companies were not as good as she thought they would be; she had been pampered and sheltered all those while, so he was reluctant to send her out to the harsh world just like that.

He thought that he should buy her a workshop and let her explore it on her own. It would never be too late for her to enter the workforce after she delivered positive results.

She had yet to recover from her role as a full-time housewife, so she would not be exposed to what she had expected if she joined the workforce. She might feel frustrated if she were asked to do chores.

Heaton walked into the bedroom, and Verian pretended to be asleep.

He took off his clothes; he could sense that Verian was still awake. His lips curled upward. "You're not asleep yet. Were you waiting for me?"

Verian pulled the blanket over her head. "I thought you asked me to wait for you."

Heaton got on the bed, pulled her into his embrace, and kissed her. "Good girl."

Verian kept silent.

She peeked out from the blanket and stared at him. "By the way, why did Jinn say that he's single this afternoon? I thought he's with that superstar, Yanny?"

"Their story has never-ending drama. Anyway, they're no longer together. Their relationship ended when Yanny had a miscarriage."

"A miscarriage?"

Verian was shocked. She often read gossip on social media, and Yanny had always been a hot topic. Even though she was famous, she kept a low profile and was still humble, so many people liked her. Verian knew Yanny through Heaton a long time ago. She had met Yanny in real life before as well, and she looked way prettier than how she looked in photos. However, how dare that bastard, Jinn, let the nation's goddess suffer a miscarriage?

That was really some big news.
