The helicopter arrived at the Light Organization's base of operations.
When they stepped out of the helicopter, Serene nearly slipped again.
Fortunately, Wilson kept a hold on her.
However, a red bracelet fell out of the man's pocket.
Wilson and Serene glanced downward at it at the same time.
The bracelet looked quite new; it might have been very well kept, too. There were three ceramic balls threaded through the bracelet. Some writings were carved into each white ball; it was none other than Serene Ludd's name.
Wilson's dark pupils constricted; it felt as if a secret about him had been exposed. He was about to pick it up, but Serene was faster than him.
"What is this?"
A bracelet that belonged to her?
How could that bracelet be in Wilson's hands?
Wilson's gaze seemed cold; he acted as if he wanted to avoid her. He turned around and headed straight to the base.
Serene, on the other hand, was puzzled as she picked up that red bracelet. How could that bracelet be in Wilson's hands?
She trailed behind Wilson as she held onto that bracelet.
"Master, is this mine?"
Wilson turned around and stared at her coldly before he reached out to snatch it back. He replied with a calm tone, "No."
Serene bit her lips and said, "You're lying. This is mine, and it even has my name carved onto it! I remember buying this bracelet when I was a kid, and it had gone missing. How did you get it?"
The more Serene thought about it, the more confused she felt. She frowned as she stared at the bracelet in Wilson's hand.
However, Wilson swiftly handed the bracelet back to her as he said, "If you really want it, you can have it."
Serene did not accept it. "I have plenty of those. Since Master treasured it so much, you may keep it. You can use it to think about me whenever I'm not with you."
That was the first time Wilson's secret was exposed. That little brat even did it. He frowned, but he could not deny the fact.
Serene felt happy when she noticed Wilson's complicated look. She placed her hands behind her back as she looked up and stared at him. "That was what you were doing with it, right? Oh, Master, you didn't sneak into my room to steal it, right?"
"No."
The man walked away immediately after that.
Serene wanted to go after him, but she felt dizzy; she tried to muster some strength.
However, she had not had a proper meal, and her hypoglycemia had started to affect her.
"Master, I'm dizzy.'
"There are doctors in the base. Go look for one if you're dizzy."
"But I'm really dizzy. Please carry me."
Serene passed out after she said that.
Wilson reached out and carried her in his arms. He frowned concernedly.
Then, the man carried her to the infirmary.
Wilson stayed by Serene's side in the infirmary. He asked the doctor, "Why hasn't she woke yet?"
Joan was dressed in a white lab coat. She tied her messy hair before she glanced at Wilson. She teased, "Oh Wilson, are you worried about this little lady?"
Wilson pouted, but he remained silent. He was utterly focused on Serene's tender face as she slept.
While Joan organized the medicine, she said, "I've never seen you so concerned about a girl. You like her, don't you?"
"No one would call you a mute if you keep your mouth shut."
Joan shrugged and said, "I heard Thompson and Ruby mentioned that you have a crush for several years now. It wouldn't be this lady, right?"
Serene was speechless.
After Wilson left, Serene bit her lips. She seemed sad; her eyes were red too.
Did her master not want her anymore?
Joan looked at Serene and asked, "Are you crying?"
Serene wiped her tears and turned around so that her back was toward Joan. She spoke in a determined tone, "No, my eyes just hurt."
"Fair point. That ruthless White Wolf wouldn't even notice it if you were to cry now."
The more she spoke, the sadder Serene felt. She had been kidnapped in North City, and she did not even know where they were. She had gone through a difficult journey. She was homesick and hungry, and her master was cold toward her. She felt so sad that she began to cry. However, she still tried to wipe her tears discreetly.
Joan noticed the woman had cried. She said, "Hey, you need to keep your strength. Do you want to eat something?"
The moment she mentioned food, Serene immediately nodded. She was absolutely ravenous. Even if she wanted to cry, she wanted to do it with a full stomach.
…
Joan walked out from the infirmary to grab some food for the woman.
When she was done and ready to get back to the infirmary, Wilson stopped her.
Wilson frowned when he saw the food on the tray. He lamented, "Why is the food so poor in the cafeteria recently?"
Joan replied, "It has always been the same food."
Wilson took a box of chocolates and handed it to Joan. "She loves this. Make her finish it."
Chocolate was an excellent remedy for hypoglycemia.
Joan stared at Wilson with a peculiar look as she asked, "When would a man like you have a secret stash of goodies like these?"
Wilson ignored her as he turned around to leave. However, Joan casually remarked, "Oh, I forgot to mention that your woman cried earlier. She cried after you left. You made her cry."
