The Porsche 918 arrived at the main entrance of the Fudd family home.
Verian was about to get out of the car with her wedding dress when she said, "Thanks for sending me home. You… Do you want to come in for some tea?"
Bodd shook his head as he chuckled. "I think I won't be coming in. I don't wish to see the loving interaction between your family of four."
Verian felt slightly awkward as she said, "Drive safe then."
When she was about to open the door, she heard Bodd said, "So, you didn't have feelings for me because there was a problem with how I showed my affection for you? I think these are only excuses, Verian. I can tell you ten, no, a hundred of my uncle's flaws. However, I know you will see them as his strengths. I think that's how you can tell when you love someone."
Verian withdrew her gaze slightly. She did not deny it as she said, "Perhaps that's the case. Love is the most unreasonable feeling. There is no order or a payoff because one party works the hardest in terms of love."
The hardest thing was always something that one could never obtain, no matter how much a person tried.
Suddenly, Bodd chuckled as if he felt relief. He said, "Perhaps this is fate. My uncle is fated to be with you, and I am not."
Verian laughed as well. She did not say anything else as she got out of his car with her wedding dress.
Verian waited for the Porsche 918 to leave before she entered the courtyard.
Heaton came out of the house when she had entered the courtyard.
"Where'd you go?"
"I went to collect the wedding dress from the tailor."
Heaton had only got home; he was still in his formal shirt. He took the wedding dress from Verian as he raised his brows and said, "Why didn't you wait for me to come back so I could go with you? Who sent you back?"
Verian did not hide anything from him, so she replied honestly, "I initially wanted to get a cab home, but I ran into Bodd at the tailor. He's also taking part in the competition. If all goes according to plan, I will run into him at the competition tomorrow."
"Bodd drove you back?"
"Yeah. You wouldn't be…jealous now, would you?"
Verian grabbed onto his arm as she looked up and shot a huge smile at him.
The man flirtatiously snapped back at her, "You are already a mother to both of my children. Why would I be jealous?"
The duo entered the house together. Heaton helped Verian to hang her wedding dress.
Little Jelly bean rushed over to them as well. When she noticed the wedding dress, her eyes lit up as she exclaimed and clapped her hands. "Wow! Monty! That is a beautiful wedding dress!"
Verian was in an excellent mood when she looked at the wedding dress. She said, "I think so too!"
Heaton suddenly shifted his gaze at her and said, "Why don't you put it on and give it a try?"
"What? That wouldn't be nice; plus, it's not made according to my measurements."
Even though Verian had gained a little weight, she was not considered fat. The wedding dress was made for plus-size women, and it would not fit her.
Little Jelly Bean blinked as she excitedly said, "Monty, I want to see you in it too!"
Verian blushed. So, she put on the wedding dress after the father and daughter duo 'persuaded' her.
Since she was unable to put it on herself, Heaton had to help her out.
Verian held onto the fabric in front of her chest as Heaton stared at her. She felt slightly nervous; she felt like she was going to her wedding.
"What do you think? Does it look alright?"
The man merely stared at her with his warm, burning gaze. He remained silent for a brief moment.
Then Little Jelly Bean rushed inside and said, "Monty! Are you done changing! I want to see!"
"Wow! It's Snow White!"
The little rascal did not know how to describe beauty, but she thought Snow White was the most beautiful lady.
Even though the wedding dress was designed with a simple tube top, the sleeves were intricately made. The sleeves were a one-piece, and it could cover the widest parts of a woman's arms. The waistline, however, was designed with extreme care. When a large woman wore the dress, it would show off the person's waist, and it would make the woman's waist look even more slender.
Verian detected an oddly cold gaze from someone the moment she was done speaking. She frantically looked up and turned around to face him. She giggled and said, "Of course, I look up to men who are more business-minded since a business would make even more money than design anyway. Mr. Fudd is the best example. Not only does he have two children, but his wife doesn't even need to work for a living. A wonderful man, indeed."
Heaton lowered his gaze to stare at her teasingly as he said, "Where did you learn to spin your words, Madam Fudd?"
"Well, there's no such thing as a free lunch. After all, Mr. Fudd is my benefactor, right?"
Verian hugged Heaton with all four of her limbs around his body like a koala bear. She said, "I'll stop thinking about tomorrow's competition. Let's sleep."
Heaton carried her to the bed.
When both of them were on the bed, Verian recalled the conversation she had with Bodd earlier in the day, so she turned around to look at Heaton's handsome face as she asked, "Say, why do think I chose to be with you anyway?"
The man glanced at her with a calm look and said, "Because you're not blind."
Verian was speechless.
She immediately pulled the covers over her head; that man was way too self-absorbed.
After a brief moment, she peeked her head out again and said, "Then, why did you fall in love with me anyway? Was it because you're not blind too?"
Heaton glared at her with a teasing gaze as he said, "Because I'm blind."
"Heaton Fudd!"
Verian climbed on top of him as she held onto him furiously and clenched her fists to punch him.
However, Heaton hugged her tightly within his arms as he spoke in a deep magnetic voice, "Maybe you showed me how to be gentle to someone else."
Verian was stunned for a couple of seconds before she shifted her gaze to his handsome face. She beamed as she reached out to hug his neck and said, "You're only allowed to be gentle with me then."
The man nodded. Although he never explicitly promised her, Verian felt incredibly secure in her heart.
Gentleness was not a natural talent that a person could have. It would only manifest when one ran into someone that they wanted to be gentle with. It was only then that a person could be gentle and offer a form of security to another.
